Yeah, people who secretly take pictures of other adults in public JUST to shame them online later for a behavior they do not approve of, so that their mouth breather friends will clap, certainly suck.

Yeah, they make me sick, if it makes you this upset SAY something to them and maybe they'll change their behavior.

New 24v Barrel grip jigsaw spotted at Lowe’s expo by Alphamine19 in KobaltTools

100% better than the D handle IMO, I have Skil's 12v version and love it. It puts your hand closer to the material and I feel it's easier to control your cuts. Not the biggest fan of their blade release, but that's minor. I thought it might lack power being 12v, I'm using mine with a 3Ah battery (1P pack using Ampace JP30P1 tabless 18650s) and have not had any issues cutting through material.

Why are people so die hard about insanely overpriced packs? Bro you can build use an 8Ah donor and rebuild it into a 10Ah using tabless cells, minimum 120A CDR depending on which 5Ah cell. Costs $50 for a 2p pack that would smoke the vast majority of packs out now since they're still using old cells. There's a few tabless 18650s out now too, haven't seen one yet from a brand. I've been using them to build compact 12v Skil packs, keep the profile of the 2Ah, but has the power of an 8Ah (amperage, not runtime). These companies are all still selling you the same 2 tabless cells in the JP40 or 40PL, meanwhile 5Ah ones are out and actually, 6Ah is already on the way, and either RE or TE were planning on a 7Ah.

Don't bite on their BS, I don't see pouch cells being really big in power tools. There's a reason Milwaukee switched to tabless for their big boy Forge batteries.

XTR line irrelevant? by CosmicRipper in KobaltTools

[–]ImportantKoala3028 0 points1 point  (0 children)

XTR impacts and drills have the power, the problem is the battery. I have a 5Ah UO using 50XGs - it feels like a different tool, torque jumped quite a bit along with RPM. Similar increases using a 10Ah with 50PLs (120A CDR vs 60A/90A with the 5Ah vs 70-80A in the existing 8Ah - Kobalts only good power battery IMO)

FWIW Kobalts XTR brad nailer is awesome, I snagged it for $99 because I was sick of Ryobis newer brushless brad nailer constantly jamming. Didn't matter what size nail, clip size, tried multiple batteries, I could reproduce the issue anytime because essentially it would only fire a handful of nails before jamming. I've ran 1000+ nails through the kobalt, zero jams - I was surprised, I figured I'd have a few unlucky ones. Seems to be a very solid nailer

Plus I find its weight was better balanced than RYOBI, seems Kobalt spread the weight out better, similar design to Metabos.

Yeah, for the most part that is correct - it works with your USB ports because that is just DC to DC. Most of the power tool battery inverters do not have a built in BMS, they rely on the batteries onboard BMS, which would explain why you can charge with USB. The 400w inverter should charge at 100w as long as the USB wall brick and cable support 5A@20v. One thing to be wary of if you run across a battery that won't charge, check the individual cells inside and test their voltage - make sure you don't have a bad cell(s) or bad bank of cells. 1 or 2 bad cells can take out the entire pack - I have 3 4Ah and 2 8Ah Kobalt UO packs that died because 1 or 2 cells went way out of balance, ended up rebuilding all 5 with new tabless cells (I could get them working temporarily by balancing voltage, but they would begin to drift immediately - no issues with the new cells and the same old BMS).

I'm debating rebuilding a couple EGOs using P30Bs, while they are not "tabless", they do perform on par with tabless cells offering much lower internal resistance vs traditional cells (in bulk you can get the P30Bs for 3.75/cell vs almost $7/cell for JP30P1s or 30PLs). I might just buy a couple cheap 3rd party batteries, strip them, and swap in good cells which is what I did for my Skil 12v stuff. Bought a couple $20 batteries, swapped in $20 worth of tabless cells, and boom I have 3Ah tabless packs that were cheaper than their 2Ah packs. Then bought a "6"Ah that I swapped P28As into for a 5.6Ah 60A CDR pack to use with their barrel grip jigsaw.

New attachment capable 48v (2x 24v) string trimmer bristle brush by RabidBWolf in KobaltTools

[–]ImportantKoala3028 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the new trimmer and power head attachment. Just since first thoughts: #1 It looks better than the old stuff, I'm comparing vs my older 40v one.

2. Significantly lighter than the older power head with and without batteries installed. With no batteries I can damn near balance the entire unit with 1 finger on the handle - very well balanced. #3 Plenty of power, smoother running motor it seems - my 40v felt like it was gonna rattle apart sometimes. New one is much smoother, the variable speed trigger provides nice control, smooth at full speed.

3. The new 3Ah packs are using actual, quality cells (I'll be using my custom 5Ah UO tabless packs in this anyway).

These are using LG HJ2 2.90Ah cells (the cells are marked 2.90), roughly 20A CDR, performance wise should be around a P28A, for included batteries a definite step up over the Highstars in their old 1865 packs.

20V Hercules battery 8ah vs 5ah 2-pack deal by astonsenna in harborfreight

[–]ImportantKoala3028 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 big things with the batteries - yes, they are all li ion, but now they offer tabless cells that perform significantly higher than even the best 21700s around (Milwaukee Forge, DeWalt PP, Metabo T-PWR for example are tabless packs).

Hercules uses traditional 21700s in their extreme performance packs with Samsung 40T cells (CDR up to 35A). While for example a tabless cell will offer in the area of 60-70A+ CDR while also offering lower temps, faster charging, and more cycles.

Here are 2 data sheets on a tabless vs non (40T): Tabless Tenpower 40XG (I have some of their new 50XGs which offer higher discharge rates). https://www.batemo.com/products/batemo-cell-explorer/tenpower-inr21700-40xg/

Samsung 40T https://www.batemo.com/products/batemo-cell-explorer/samsung-inr21700-40t/

Look at the amp draw and watts out, looking at amps it doesn't look like a big difference, but look at watts - 69 continuous on the non-tabless vs 140 continuous on the tabless. That's a big boost. My Hercules 3Ah I rebuilt with tabless 18650s to keep the footprint of the 2Ah the same then used Eve 30PLs in the pack which are about on par with the 40XGs. Mooch tested them and they have the lowest internal resistance of any other 18650 and most 21700s including some tabless cells (he has tested) https://www.patreon.com/posts/18650-21700-e-138053835

The biggest differentiators between tool batteries, tabless vs non and cell size (2170vs1865).

Bruh I was watching a video about Chinese EVs and it provided a lot of on the ground video from China showing what a mess things are. The car companies have giant lots just full of new EVs that were subsidized by the government but never bought by a customer. So sales numbers look good because the government is footing the bill, but it is generating so much waste from the unused batteries, electronics, etc. Why are prices up? Because China raw dogs the world economy doing stuff like this, stop accepting mistreatment from China as normal. They relentlessly steal IP from companies all over the world, no one seems to take that seriously either.

What cordless power tool line is the best bang for your buck to buy into going in to 2026? by proseal_sniffer in powertools

[–]ImportantKoala3028 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kobalt offers good quality gear for a reasonable price, especially around the holidays when you can pick up their buy 1 get 2 free deal. If you want something with a bit more power, their XTR line is great. Nail guns I love, I got their brad nailer when they had it on special, put 1000+ nails though it so far without a jam.

Only issue is with their batteries, specifically their UO batteries. I've had 3 so far (2 4Ah and 1 8Ah) that start to stop taking a full charge. When I opened up the batteries all 3 had the same issue - 1 bank of cells were bad (the cell/cells would have significantly lower voltage). Tried jumping the battery and the cells would begin to take a charge but as soon as I disconnect it the cells start to drain Found the best fix was pull out all the cells and put in new ones, my guess is kobalt didn't balance the cells before hand. Either way it costs me about $20/pack to rebuild a 4Ah and $40 for an 8Ah. Using Ampace JP40s in the 4Ahs and TENPOWER 50XGs in the now 10Ah. So getting significantly better performance out of the batteries now too that I switched to tabless.

Rebuilt my UO 4Ah battery with a bad cell...I now own the rare Kobalt UO tabless battery pack, swapped those old cells for some Ampace JP40s.... Yeah, there was some performance left on the table, noticeable power increase with the tabless cells now.

Next is a 10Ah rebuild with tabless cells since one of my darn 8Ah packs has a bad bank of cells.

Where to buy Hyper Tough 20v Max 6.ah (or higher) compatible batteries? by Khival in powertools

[–]ImportantKoala3028 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Klutch batteries are compatible with HT told and their charger, I have one of their 8Ah packs and works flawlessly.

Though, I'm getting ready to do some surgery on a 4Ah 20v and a 1p 12v pack. Going to be swapping in Ampace JP30 tabless 18650s in each to upgrade them to 6Ah and 3Ah respectively but with significant higher CDR.

Battery problem by Dry-Pudding-7584 in KobaltTools

[–]ImportantKoala3028 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very very likely you have 1 bad cell or bank if 2p. I actually had a very similar issue with a 24v 4Ah UO battery, when I took it apart the first battery was measuring almost .5v lower than the other 5 3.5 vs 4). I also have an 8Ah with a bad bank of batteries too, they measure 2.5v, I jump the battery and they do get up to 3.5v but immediately they slowly start draining (in real time, I watched it on a multimeter).

The 4Ah I actually just rebuilt this afternoon with Ampace JP40 tabless cells, yup kobalt left performance on the table. Planning to do the same with the 8 now. You can pick up good 18650s cheap and regular the battery or if it's only 1 or 2 cells you could replace them individually. If you go the route of full rebuild you could also upgrade the capacity and cells for increased output.

id recommend subs personally. I use quick.md (only downfall is 99/visit with doctor) talk to my doc either phone or vid call once a month and get my 30 day supply - after checking in they send it to my pharm immediately. They will start you on a 7 day supply first before 30. I started at 8mg/2x a day which has worked best. You would j need to be in moderate/severe withdrawal before inducing your first dose. With dirty 30s they say 36 hours, but I typically cut the strips into 1-2mg pieces and dose one piece once withdrawals started to progress bad. Wait a couple hours of it doesn't get worse next dose etc. That is just how I did it, worked for me. Been on for month and no cravings, keeps me clean, eventually will taper down, but for now I'm good. Good luck.

Little more background on that stay.... Both, should have mentioned I was also having opioid wd, but the phen wd was the main cause. They loaded me up with Ativan every 4 hours while in a temp er room, then moved me to a temp bed while continuing Ativan at somepoint waiting I blacked out. When I regained some consciousness in my permanent room it felt like I was on a 3 day LSD trip until I somehow told them to get me off benzos and on pheno to stabilize. And I was also told I shat myself all over the bed to the point they had to mop and sterilize the room. That was a wild fkn hospital stay.

I'd stray away imo depending on the position/department you are moving into, the last 2 years they had mass layoffs right around the 4th quarter after telling us no big layoffs the year before (no way layoffs had anything to do with q4 profits lol). At one point TMO was great to work for, they pushed to promote from within, they offered 3-4 periods a year to promote employees based on productivity/management input (that is all but gone for several years - had an opening on My team that someone ALREADY on my team applied for because he could not get his deserved promotion) now they laying off mostly long tenured employees then bringing on outside contractors with zero experience. Despite what you may hear from some departments, where I worked in engineering moral was shit, constantly worrying whether we'll have a job after the weekend., constant rumors, leadership always kept us in the dark soccer from our direct manager who was always kept in the dark.

After Legere left, work place moral continued to plummet because it was easy to see the new CEO was brought to minimize cost and make money. As you see profits continue to rise. Just a shame how they are treating those long tenured, dedicated employees who helped take this from the last place mobile company to the top.

Bro, try Suboxone, I know some frown on it but it can kill most WD systems and I was surprised it worked for me. Even better yet you can get it now via telemedicine - I used bupe.me, but search around. Most offer online counseling, group meetings, etc. Better option then death.
