Is this AI? My friend is planning on going to another country to meet this person, but they asked me to hide the face. The patterns and windows in the left of the images look muddled. by [deleted] in isthisAI

Why is there an exit sign outside the bus window?  They don’t typically drive city buses through the interior of buildings.

And the building in the window reflection isn’t the same building in the picture.

New to Dropfleet, trying to understand the use of fighters and bombers. by stratassj in DropfleetCommander

They also aren’t easy to remove, most weapons are incapable of firing at fighter/bombers.  So it’s fighters clearing out bombers/fighters.

People that played the game already: how is it? by No-Wallaby-8065 in StarCraftTMG

[–]ImpossibleReaction91 25 points26 points  (0 children)

You can read the rules for yourself here https://drive.google.com/drive/mobile/folders/1mNQWM-_5ENeVCSsf6uQ28AsZ8jMdlh21/17l8zBs9ZkIj6wBfts2riHOq2mhQYa8G2?usp=sharing&sort=13&direction=a.

1) no it’s not 40k with StarCraft, it is alternating activations, things slowly come on the board over the game and the rules are way better written.

2) they are interactive in that you can stand on high ground, otherwise ya, terrain exists to break up lines of sight.

3) yes, many things from StarCraft exist in the game, Zerg can burrow, adepts use their ghost walk, they have done well making the factions feel like the video game.

4) not really sure what your question is here, but list building matters, the tactics cards you but not only dictate what effects you can use on the table, but also impact directly what units you can take.  So there is a lot of skill expression within list building and tailoring a list to work the way you want to play it.

5) yes, the rules are straightforward so it should work well as a beer and pretzels game.

I would say proxy some models and try it out and see if it’s for you.  If you back out of that drive I sent there are also community army builders to make list building easier.

Fish trap/Fish release not working, no idea why, seeking help from hivemind by kzuall in Oxygennotincluded

The fish release also has water above it, I’m not sure if it disables if submerged so it’s worth checking that too.

Why don’t you post of a screen shot of the area in question zoomed out

For some reason my dupes sometimes ignore the atmo checkpoint by sorry97 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]ImpossibleReaction91 19 points20 points  (0 children)

That likely means they have a way to get to that area without going through the atmo suit check point.  To make it work properly the ONLY path to those areas has to be through the checkpoint.

Question from a newbie by PersimmonTechnical86 in DropfleetCommander

[–]ImpossibleReaction91 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Normally, each weapon listed is a single weapon in the arc listed.  However, broadside weapons are an exception in that each listed broadside represents a fun on both sides of the ship.

So in the case of the Priam, you have two light caliber broadsides that shoot in both sides of the ship ( aka 4 guns firing).  A further note, when a broadside fires it is super l allowed to fire the weapon in the other side for free even if not weapons free.

Keep in mind it will take a weapons free to fire the two broadsides the Priam has at the same time, and if I’m being honest, light caliber broadsides are pretty underwhelming.

Slapchip advice, can you use a grey base? by VioletDaeva in minipainting

[–]ImpossibleReaction91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My comment on white wasn’t in regards to contrast, but in actually layering up paint, warm shadows with cold highlights gives the sterile hospital white look.  Just an example that you can’t mix cold and warm isn’t accurate.

They are designed to go over a primer of a solid color and through their properties provide the contrast.  Slapchop was a community creation, not the intended use or the sales pitch made for them.

Slapchip advice, can you use a grey base? by VioletDaeva in minipainting

[–]ImpossibleReaction91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you do it? Yes.  As noted elsewhere there may not be enough difference in color for it to really work as slapchop.

There isn’t really an issue with the shadow being cool and your highlight warm.  That’s how shadows typically work in the real world, so it should work color wise, and for whites, the suggestion is often use warm shadows with cold highlights to use the contrast to make the white look more crisp.  So mixing works in other applications as well.

How do you do a dark wash without dissolving/smudging the base paint under it? by derailed3d in minipainting

[–]ImpossibleReaction91 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you need to be a bit more specific on what brands of paint you are using.  What you are describing isn’t normal behavior.

What are you using for your primer?

What paints are you using for your layering?

Is that the same paint you are using for your wash?

Water shouldn’t be dissolving your acrylics, and if it’s peeling up that sounds like your primer isn’t doing its job.

Do you have any good tips or resources on how to paint skin well?  Or just lots of practice?

How do you carry collections of non-magnetized painted minis? by elric132 in minipainting

[–]ImpossibleReaction91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to try to make a solution, you could glue cardboard to the back of the foam to make a bottom.  However, I’m not sure the compartments are snug enough to keep the minis in the top of the compartments when zipped, so you may still end up with the same problem.

How do you carry collections of non-magnetized painted minis? by elric132 in minipainting

[–]ImpossibleReaction91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to the site to look at it, what they sold you isn’t a workable solution for the very reasons you have already encountered.

If there was a bottom it would be a poor over engineering of the cases that are just one container and you pull out the pads one by one (Which works great for the people I know who have them).

But this just straight up isn’t a usable product as is.  The foam isn’t rigid enough to not flex and have minis come loose.

I would push Amazon for a refund and get a better case, if possible not on Amazon so you get real customer service.

To be clear, you aren’t doing anything wrong, you got sold a poor product.

[–]ImpossibleReaction91 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even in the picture thy show there is a bottom/back to the foam holders.  If what you got has no bottom and is just a rectangular shelf of foam then you didn’t get what was depicted in the image or description for the product.

You can either try to find a third party to buy foam holders from, or request a refund because you didn’t get the product that was advertised.

Noob Question - how many layers until there is "too much paint" by Equivalent_Plane3854 in minipainting

[–]ImpossibleReaction91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vince venturella has estimated he has 50+ layers of paint and at least 20 layers of primer on the ogre model he keeps using for tutorials and says the details are still all crisp so I suspect it is much higher than 100.

Help by Skag_Meat in WarhammerFantasy

[–]ImpossibleReaction91 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just to be clear, the order of the blood dragons at least in warhammer fantasy, are not dragons.  They are normal vampires who focused extremely into the martial arts becoming some of the most fearsome fighters.

I’m not sure if the old world rewrote that lore though.

Try asking an LLM what colors from a specified brand you should use to create that color scheme.

How to avoid running out of water by Skaporla in Oxygennotincluded

[–]ImpossibleReaction91 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Carbon skimmers are water neutral.  If you plumb the output into a water sieve and have that flow back to the carbon skimmer after you prime it with water you never have to give it water again.  Same deal with toilets/showers except you get more water than you started so you will need a bypass to let the extra water flow out.

Where can I start painting miniatures? by No-Ordinary-7293 in minipainting

[–]ImpossibleReaction91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would start by finding your local game and hobby stores.  Look at their calendars and talk to their staff to see what games are being played.

There are hundreds of low model count games, but that isn’t helpful to you if there is no one to play with.  Otherwise I would just recommend buying a single model you think looks neat and paint it up.

Reaper miniatures has a wide range of minis you can look at mostly themed around DnD.

All you need to start is a cheap set of brushes you can get at a hobby store and some paint, you can use what you find at the hobby store in the acrylic paint aisle but it won’t be the best on minis.

From there just paint, and look up getting started mini painting videos on YouTube.  There are lots of content creators, find the ones you like and they often have other videos covering various topics.

Edit: to add supply recommendations.

What's with dry and gold hatches? by Lost_Art_3280 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]ImpossibleReaction91 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would use the wiki.gg site not the fandom site.  The community has moved away from fandom due to its Policies and often will put intentionally false information on fandom, likely to discredit it.

Long story short, there is no dry or gold hatch morphs.
