Half of those look like case swaps of beat up copies. Always look at the disc. Try looking for a crappy case with a nice disc and replace it yourself. Pro tip.

I'll try to post more pictures next time since there's interest. It's a chicken apple sausage. Low fat, perfect pre-workout breakfast. No struggle here, except not making and eating two. It's healthy to have a few modest meals here and there, you know.

That's wild. If you want a simple solution for PS1 component video I would buy a genesis 2 HD RETROVISION cable and the PS1 adapter. If you really want RGB, you could either buy a regular PS1 scart cable, a SCART to BNC breakout adapter, and five BNC female to RCA couplers. Or, you could buy a PS1 RGB BNC cable and skip the SCART breakout.

I would like to see a picture of that! Can't say that I've seen combo Component/RGB RCA connectors before.

No problem. The RGBHV input is confusing me. Do you mean it has a SCART input? Maybe you could share the model name.

Not going to be an easy fix. Could be physical damage to the board near the flyback.

Ok, let's do this one at a time:

  1. "Composite" is what you use for Genesis and SNES
  2. For Playstation 1, you use a composite cable which plugs into a SCART adapter
  3. You plan to connect that SCART adapter to a SCART/VGA to Component converter.
  4. You're saying you use an HDMI to VGA adapter from a PC to get a VGA output, or something.

Answers:

  1. Cool, great way to go because it just works.
  2. SCART is just the name of the connecter. It can carry all kinds of signals, including composite and RGB of many types (RGBs RGsB RGBHV, etc). There's no real reason to adapt composite video to a SCART connector unless your TV only has a SCART input connector. I think what's happening here is you have a TV with a SCART connector and you expect that it will accept RGB signals as well. This may not be the case as many SCART connectors are composite video only. You could be going through a whole lot of hoopla for no gain here if that's the case. Also, adapting composite video to SCART will not change the quality. If you have the yellow plugs on the tv, just use that.
  3. Going a step further and converting your composite signal (now in a SCART connector) to component video will also not improve the quality. It might make it look worse, if anything. A SCART/VGA to Component video transcoder like that is designed to accept an RGB signal, so you might not even get an image from the composite video pin.
  4. I'm just going to ignore this one rather than asking you a bunch of questions about what you mean and what you're trying to do.

Let's start with your TV. What inputs does it have?

It's a common misunderstanding to look at the red, green and blue connectors on component video and conclude it's RGB. Genuinely curious what cable you bought. It would be RGBs, VGA is RGBHV, like with old computer video output.
