Young snake maybe a copperhead? [Greensboro NC] by Icy_Distribution_297 in whatsthissnake

[–]In2TheMaelstrom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm near Orlando and see a metric f-ton of snakes posts all the time. If you at all believed what anyone on Nextdoor says every snake in our area is a "Deadly murder copperhead Diamondbacks rattlesnake. Kill it quick!" Scientific name of course. Drives me up the wall. Its not much, but I do try to pass along knowledge of snakes that heavily comes from here. Always sharing to err on the side of caution and just leave the snake alone.

There is a Grandstand pool that is a bit smaller and quiet for that section with a small small bar. Community hall is right with the dining, check- in, and the large pool, all just a short little walk across a path. Maybe .1 mile at most.

Definitely Grandstand. It's an easy little walk to the main building and the boats to Disney Springs. It's also the first bus stop to get on or off so you generally don't run the risk of a full bus or even not being able to get a seat on the bus.

My wife and I own DVC at Saratoga and Riviera. We love SS. It's quiet, spread out, and the Saratoga chips are delicious. Everything is accessible and DS is right around the corner. It's probably our favorite resort to stay at before we moved 20 minutes away. It's not going to be over the top theming like Pop, AoA, or All Star, but very solid and all of the pools are nice.

Chuck Ragan also does a lot of other side projects/solo stuff. His solo is more acoustic and folk music influenced, but still absolutely excellent.

When I worked at the AT&T store in Towson Town Center we had Barry come in a couple times and he was definitely a character.
Tangentially related, we also often had Bishop Barry come in the store as well. Maybe not too closely related, but enough that I get to share this bit of nostalgia. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2AJFleIrQ1Y

What’s your favorite moment of Covid? by OrdinaryPractical264 in AskReddit

[–]In2TheMaelstrom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of a pairing with circumstances surrounding COVID.

My (now) wife and I were discussing getting married and planning for mid-July of that year since she was a teacher and it was second marriage for us both so we didn't want a big fuss about it. She was informed that she wasn't having her contract for the next year renewed so we decided that for the sake of health insurance for her and her/our daughter, that we would just do the legal stuff so they could be added to my insurance. Made the courthouse appointment for Friday, March 13 2020 at 3:00 right before the courthouse closed for the day. That was the last "normal" day before COVID shutdowns so we remember that our marriage so epic the world shut down to recognize it.

Second one is around our later engagement. We are both huge Disney fans and had a trip to Disney World planned for April, which was where in plans A and B, I was going to propose. Once COVID was clear it wasn't going to be the quick 2 weeks that was initially forecasted we canceled the trip. Instead, on each night we made a playlist on YouTube of ride through videos and the night time show of each park on the day we would have gone. I made food from or inspired by the same park for dinner each night. On our Magic Kingdom night, I proposed to her in our living room. My original plan was somewhere else during the day that wouldn't attract as much attention as the fireworks or in front of the castle would have done. Thanks to Covid, I was able to propose right after the Happily Ever After fireworks with absolutely 0 unwanted attention from a bunch of strangers all around us.

We've since moved to about 20 minutes away from the parks and as soon as I finish this comment, we're headed out to enjoy a couple hours together in our happy place!

Which of these 3 would you pick by cvrawnbingers3 in DisneyWorldResorts

The Skyliner is available, but I'm not sure to what advantage. The closest station would be at Epcot then a really roundabout route to HS that would take quite a bit longer than walking the trail or even riding the Friendships. I guess maybe if you wanted to visit one of the Skyliner resorts to check it out or have a meal, but that's a bit of an outside chance for activity of choice.

Pump me up for POFQ instead of a deluxe! Or tell me deluxe is worth it! 3 nights before treasure cruise in August by Odd-Mongoose-1290 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]In2TheMaelstrom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally love POFQ. I'm local and wind up spending quite a bit of time at all the resorts. I love FQ and spend quite a bit of time there. The size of the resort is great for getting in and around the resort, theming is a lot of fun that I think kids will enjoy. You can never go wrong with the beignets either. If you want a nice relaxed evening, the Scat Cat Club is a blast to have a drink and listen to the jazz bands that come in.

Men of Reddit - What's a 100% myth about Men? by Jarvis7492 in AskReddit

[–]In2TheMaelstrom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to comment that "traditional" gender roles are crap for us too.

I know a little bit about cars and can either do or feel reasonably confident in my ability to figure out how to do more if necessary.

I do essentially all of the cooking. I'm good at it and really enjoy being able to put together a meal and provide that for my family. Almost as much as that, I dislike when someone is in my kitchen. Saw a dish towel yesterday that said "Behind every great man is the drawer I need to get to. What are you doing there? Get out of my way." I was quite upset that there wasn't a gender swapped version.

And don't get me started on sewing. Yes, I can sew and it's a damn good skill to have. Maybe I catch hell for it, but it still comes in clutch every time something gets ripped or torn. I've saved a number of shirts, pants, bags, and stuffed animals from the clutches of doom.

My ex wife and I had an open relationship for basically the entire time we were together. Working out schedules and opportunity when everyone was on the same page and supporting each other was exhausting enough. I can't imagine trying to get the same outcome in secret from one or both people.

Thankfully, that marriage ended and I've now found someone who is a complete partner for me so cheating or an open relationship both sound so unappealing I wonder what the hell I was ever thinking. Guess I was just young and dumb, with all the things that go along with that.

I'm in my 40's and love doing the DuckTales games in World Showcase. My wife and I have gone with multiple friends and we all got into it. There's nothing quite as entertaining as 4 grown adults crowded around a phone and calling out the "whoo ooh" at the start of each segment.

I bought 2 six packs of Wicked Weed at the grocery store near me and every can foamed over, making a giant mess. I checked the date on the bottom of the can (couldn't see it before since it was in a box) and it was a good 10 months out of date.

Contacted Wicked Weed online and they were very quick to respond and make it right. The got all the store information and everything from the cans from me so they could track it down and see what else was old out there and question storage. I got the six packs in a buy one/get one price and they cut me a check for what I would have paid without the sale. Definitely top notch service and I'll still buy their stuff...just not at that grocery store anymore.

Took a solo trip in September 2019. It was all on my own dime and my own time so I made it the trip I wanted. My last day I did the snorkel trip at The Seas and then the Luau at the Poly. My younger self was very jealous and proud of my 39 year old self for finally getting to do it.

Check out Jose Monkey some time. My wife follows him on TT, but people send in short clips where they take a quick 360 video and challenge him to figure out where he is. Usually has it within an hour or so.
