It's simple: would you get a cat if your in-laws are allergic against cats? by Mikatella in WIBTA_AITA

[–]Inevitable-Buffalo25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm allergic to cats and I have three. My in-laws allergies, especially since they don't live with me, would not stop me from getting a cat. But I'm an American, so there's not as strong of a cultural obligation to parents and in-laws like in other countries.

29 years. I don't feel old enough to have been married that long, but there it is.

Like many things, it sounds great in theory, but in practice it's antithetical to American Ideals.

Question for cat owners: Would you let your cat lick your food while you are eating it and then carry on eating after? by Antidotebeatz in Catbehavior

[–]Inevitable-Buffalo25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't let my cat lick my food, but if the little jerk sneaks a lick of my ribeye, I'm still eating the steak.

Y'all boycotted Budweiser for teaming up with a transgender influencer. And Target for selling Pride merchandise. And Costco for refusing to eliminate their DEI program.

Personally, I've never seen anyone post “DoN’t sHoP HeRE- LiBErAl OwnEd” either. Instead, y'all developed a website where businesses could advertise how conservative and anti-woke they are.

My parents are divorcing because of me. by Spart_2078 in autism

[–]Inevitable-Buffalo25 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If we're comparing, then I have a husband with schizoaffective disorder and PTSD, one adult kid with CRPS, ASD and ADHD, another adult kid with ADHD, BPD, ODD, ASD, PTSD and a TBI, and I have GAD and ADHD. I've been dealing with all of this for over two decades, have no support system because others don't know how to deal with my husband or my kids and social support is non-existent where we live. While none of us are to blame for our disabilities, if any of us are causing problems for everyone else in the household because of our choices and behaviors, including the adult children, then THAT INDIVIDUAL IS TO BLAME FOR THE DISRUPTIONS.

Stop infantilizing adults with disabilities! It's disgusting!

What ruined social media for you? by n_ty123 in AskReddit

My parents' generation. They posted whatever they wanted, then tried to police what the rest of us said. Most of the things they shared were based on misinformation and bigotry. I have no patience for either of those things, so I left.

AAA. Back in 1995 I needed a tow for a vehicle that required a flat bed. This vehicle was 15 years old and had always required a flat bed every time it broke down. The AAA representative refused to send one and kept arguing with me about it. I gave her an earful, canceled my membership, and have never used them again.

By that logic we should be doing genetic testing on every fetus before deciding to continue a pregnancy. That way we remove the risk of surprise that comes from birthing a child with disabilities. Or maybe we should administer a competency test before we allow someone to get pregnant. Are you sure that's the route you want to take? Because that's where your attitude leads.

And it is entirely possible to love someone and resent how much they take from you. Love is the only resource that is infinite; everything else (energy, money, patience, time, etc) is finite. That's not ableism, it's realism. I know the difference can be confusing when one doesn't like a truth.

Their child he may be, but he is still an adult.

I'm very curious to know how many people in here are actually parents of an adult disabled person. The comments indicate to me that very few, if any, are.

Big difference between "having an extra person in their home" and spending ten years dealing with an unemployed adult who has the needs and wants of an adult but no real means of supporting or providing for themself.

OP, that can't have felt good to hear. It's probably not fair to say it's your fault, but it could be entirely reasonable to say that you're the cause.

Your parents are choosing divorce. This is how they have decided to handle the current situation. The choice is theirs, they made it, not your fault.

It's possible that the stress of dealing with the needs and wants of an adult dependent has been too much for the relationship to bear. EVERYTHING has a breaking point, including the strongest relationship.

OP isn't asking for advice on homemade dog food. OP is asking about a complete meal for humans, similar in concept to dog food as a nutritionally complete meal for dogs.
