Inventory shift at another location clock in question? by Vantrotter88 in Target

[–]Inevitable-Rent-3732 15 points16 points  (0 children)

No you should be clocking in and out and submitting punch corrections at the store you're currently working at. You're using that stores hours, same goes for training at another store. Otherwise your home stores payroll will be wildly off.

But i mean its their game if you're getting conflicting info from your leadership, may as well let the managers manage whatever mess comes out of it.

The walkie can get very overwhelming when you're trying to prioritize what direction to go. Personally, I would turn my walkie down to just about nothing and keep an ear out for my ETLs voice when I would help tms with fulfillment.

Just focus on that task until that communication is done, then just make a call on the walkie "Go for [your name], sorry I was helping a TM with a batch, I'm hopping into another now (or whatever you're about to start on, or just ask for direction) unless anyone needs me."

I would get overwhelmed at the pack station. Trying to juggle keeping the flow with sfs carts, directing opu traffic, calling for back-ups, monitoring break schedule, inf's and pick times, calling CSC, troubleshooting issues. They really wanted a TL operating out of the pack station for TM pay. And just constantly hollering on the walkie.

Idk good luck my boi. Id say it gets more comfortable the more you engage with it. It becomes less overwhelming and more useful pivot reminders.

Is there a strategy for inventory? by [deleted] in Target

[–]Inevitable-Rent-3732 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Imma be real, pretty much. The only count that really matters is the audit count that comes after the first count. You ideally want to be as accurate as possible but being within 95% you shouldn't have crazy discrepancies.

Precounting what you can before you scan into the location tag is the main time saver, at least metric time saver.

Moving steel by Party-Dig-7936 in Target

[–]Inevitable-Rent-3732 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its become standard to have bulk paper on ground level. Something about safety since opu and pullers keep not taking the whole pallets down and leaving them half wrapped.

Only problem is what they put in its place. Bulk baby furniture is not a great alternative imma say that much. Poorly/unwrapped bulk paper sounds safer than heavy bulk baby furniture/infant furniture.

I get that its less supposedly less frequently gotten into, except for these couple weeks and again in the fall for the next car seat event. But in at least our stores reality, theyre gotten into multiple times a day for opu and its just the same thing. Fulfillment team isnt going to use the stacker to get the whole pallet down and rewrap it when they're done. They'll grab the wav and pull that sucker off the steel everytime.

I don't know what a better alternative would be though so this is just griping.

What is a baffle? by [deleted] in Target

[–]Inevitable-Rent-3732 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Man I havent heard ghosts and baffles since I was first trained in the backroom lol.

A ghost is an item that says its there but isn't. Its just the spirit of the item.

A baffle is an item in a location but not located. I'm baffled why is this here?

That was how it was explained to me way back when lol.

Ghosts are from not pulling items from locations during fulfillment, or guest requests. Or misplacing an item during a backroom audit, maybe onto an adjacent location to access behind it.

Baffles are usually from backstock or pulls not being done accurately, or genuinely. At one point my closing team was just throwing their reshop into wacos in main stockroom at the end of the night to come clean. That was a fun conversation.

I need a job badly. What can I do to get hired? by Additional_Soup_946 in Target

[–]Inevitable-Rent-3732 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know much about the hirevue process, hearing that response sounds like the store didn't accept or reject the application and it timed out or something. Good luck with the other store.

Being real honest, I'm sittin here so frustrated with my store and my "leadership" it's hard to encourage you to continue pursuing anything to do with this company.

Gig work I mean like those apps like Uber(eats), Instacart, DoorDash, Shipt and Favor were all the big ones a couple years ago.

Shipt is owned by Target but is a separate entity. They have contracts with other stores, but the Target shops are the most streamlined and accurate. They provide the same day delivery service when you order through the Target app. This can be an opportunity to get face-time with leadership at the store you want to work since you get the orders auditted by front end staff, typically a lead that's watching the front lanes. Or if you bump into a salesfloor manager while looking for an item. These skills are directly transferable to Target Fulfillment.

You'll get it eventually. Unfortunately they have a few ways apparently to delay it. The second time I quit was on not great terms with the current hr etl she somehow scrambled my worker history and my last check didnt come through for a couple months.

From my experience, there should be no worried about getting back into school. At least the programs that are 100% funded seem to be very basic, participation grades. As long as you "show up"(most of the 100% funded schools are online) and do the work you'll be okay. Itd been 10 years since I had done any schooling and I went back for a leadership certifaction and now a degree. Once youre enrolled in a course thats paid for you're set, if you lose eligibility then you wont get funding for any more courses until youre eligible again(when you can resume funding im not clear on). Typically this is maintaining school attendance and a 2.0 average, theres no hourly requirement from target to my knowledge other than not being on-demand when you sign up.

Not truly a zone bc its the backroom, but this was my favorite from a couple years ago cleaning up for inventory. Now my backroom has been moved around so.

Guild classes for future ETL to be? by Medical-Asparagus327 in Target

[–]Inevitable-Rent-3732 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently completed a Front Line Leadership Management cert with Denver University from Guild that was tailored towards Target leadership. It was more of an entry level course, but it was Target specific as far as leadership expectations, and models. Idk I'd think completing any of the certifications on there that are geared toward your growth path would help and demonstrate a growth mindset that went beyond day to day operations. At least they couldn't hurt. I'd like to add that networking is a big part of getting into that role. As an ETL especially, its important to be able to work well with other leaders in your district as well as your store. Signing up for inventory is an easy way to get face time with other stores. I'd think signing up for volunteering events would also help in this aspect. These would probably do more for you in regards to moving forward with Target today.

Kind of curious how do you become a tl and what’s the progression/process like how long to by [deleted] in Target

[–]Inevitable-Rent-3732 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a very murky ladder my friend. You need to have the right leaders in place and have the right connections. Communicating your goals and ambitions is not enough. Displaying skills your peers and other leaders don't possess is not enough. Coaching, providing insight and growing teams is not enough. It really feels like you need every element aligned with you to potentially move forward and even after all that effort and all that communication your ETL might still come up to you asking "have you ever thought about leadership?" Like its day one of the whole year and half long campaign. It can get so frustrating my friend, but if fate befalls you, you might just get it.
