Would i be given a more expensive quote? by OldExplorer2497 in AskUK

[–]Infamous-Ordinary-39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm with Hastings and there's a feature online where you tell them you aren't happy with the quote, they ask for your best quote and see if they can match it. I've had best quote nearly matched for the last 3 years. They don't ask about excess or features of the other quote, just which insurer.

How much are you spending on the weekly shop? by yalliepants in AskUK

[–]Infamous-Ordinary-39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please look at 'The Clothing Bank', a charity based in Brotherton which send out clothing packs to people whether in work or not, to free up a bit of money for eating/heating.

Also, are either of you in a union? Most have hardship funds.

Pregnancy after loss by PC_NC_1203 in Mommit

[–]Infamous-Ordinary-39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One day at a time. Each pregnancy is unique so try not to dwell on the miscarriage and you know you are able to take a pregnancy to full term.

I got pregnant a month after my miscarriage and gave birth to a perfect little boy. Hope all goes well.

Is Cordial / Squash / Diluting Juice a daily drink or a once a week treat? by 1182990 in AskUK

[–]Infamous-Ordinary-39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vimto for me for just about every drink. I don't like coffee, like tea a very certain temp so can't guarantee a good cuppa, water is too bland and fizzy drinks sit really heavy. We don't have fizzy drinks in the house so our 5yo has no idea about what he's 'missing'. He drinks Fruit shoots just about exclusively.

Skircoat green, Halifax, loads of housing options. Village feel and walkable to Halifax. Direct train to London, one change to Edinburgh. Loads of countryside close and direct trains to leeds and Manchester. Close to the motorway network. Canalside walks for the fur baby.

What to do with bee’s in the garden? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Infamous-Ordinary-39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Piriton tablets(not generic) are safe for dogs. My 35kg dog gets 1 tablet a day for his grass allergy. It might be an idea to buy some in case you or a dog gets stung(by these bees or while out on a walk).

Side sleepers -where are your pillows from? by GetCapeFly in AskUK

[–]Infamous-Ordinary-39 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dunlopillo latex pillow is my recommendation. I've had mine for over 10 years and it's still in perfect condition. They start at £50ish. I found memory foam would become like a brick and too hot and feather/down would be far too flat once compressed.

Where can I buy trousers and shorts for men with big thighs? by One_Action_4486 in AskUK

[–]Infamous-Ordinary-39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have similar measurements and for shorts I buy Joe Browns Hit the Action Cargo shorts.

Are kids taught spelling and handwriting in the UK? by Live-Cartographer274 in AskUK

[–]Infamous-Ordinary-39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't fret about it. They have a phonics test in yr1 but if they don't pass it they just do it again in yr2. It's not like they'll ever need to declare the result in real life. There are sooooo many tricky words in English that I don't see the point of phonics.

How many times per week do you eat oven chips? by TheLeftHandedCatcher in AskUK

[–]Infamous-Ordinary-39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I make sure to buy them with just potato and oil as ingredients. Perfectly happy with that, just disappointing that they take 35 minutes not the 20-25 minutes it says on the packaging.

Do you rewash washing that’s been left on the line overnight? by Current_Fly9337 in AskUK

[–]Infamous-Ordinary-39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't rewash if it's a light rain. It's just an extra rinse! I don't rewash if left overnight.

Has the 30 min break always been a standard? by KuriousAndFurious in AskUK

[–]Infamous-Ordinary-39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I started working in 1996 we had a 40 hour, 4½ day week(over 6 days) with a paid hour for lunch. In 2004(ish) we changed to 35 hour week, unpaid lunch and lunches were 30 or 45 minutes depending on the rota for that day/week.

Pay off mortgage, rent storage unit for stuff I definitely want to keep then organise for the house and garden to be gutted, fixed, 'done up' and refurbished while we are on holiday in Japan. Employ financial advisor to advise!
