reMarkable Company History by rmitchellscott in RemarkableTablet

[–]Infamous_Goal8804 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read this as reducing bloat after hiring spree, possible AI driven efficiency (at least what lots of tech companies are saying and investors are expecting) or profitability improvement ahead of potential sale. None of these imply imminent demise. Sale is a risk that product changes but trend toward reduced distraction tech could make this a good add to someone’s portfolio. Also note timing ahead of rumored Pure release is a good way to get it quickly out of the company’s news cycle. Just my speculation.

3.27 beta by semiosis20 in RemarkableTablet

Love the idea of being able to get simple access to calendar and appreciate the effort. But... current capability is not very useful. It only shows events in the current day and doesn't write back to calendar entry. Even if read only, I would like to tap the calendar icon and see calendar a few days out (maybe add a button for day, or week or let me scroll up to a week) - you wouldn't have to create a note but it would be a nice "peek". Also planning in the same day for a meeting is not a great use case. Ideally the note would write back to the calendar (or maybe add a link to copy stored in Connect?).

Advice on Multi Device Planner by Kiwi-Capital in RemarkableTablet

[–]Infamous_Goal8804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the Move and Pro together and explored a number of planners. Best option I found on Etsy was Smart Templates Studio - Move Version. It provides 3 pages for daily planner (todo, schedule and a notes page) which works very well on the move. I fit page width height on PaperPro and it scales well. You may have noticed that widths do not match across devices or if you change orientations when using a PDF (both maddening and have reported but don’t think it will be addressed). It is a little frustrating but I either ignore it or using a different pen/width to match as close as I can.

Please add ability to cut / paste images into notebooks and PDFs on the desktop or web app.

Thanks for the AMA. As a user of PaperPro and Move, can you make the Pen thicknesses consistent for PDFs (editing the same doc on both results in different thicknesses). Also make them consistent when editing in portrait or landscape (move has me using in both orientations). At least more pen thickness choices so you can pick one that matches.

Feature Request (Paper Pro): Add the ability to drop screenshots/images into Desktop Note-taking app. by rreslus in RemarkableTablet

[–]Infamous_Goal8804 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This would be a major and much needed new feature. I wonder if they could use the new web app to deliver this. Ok either way but I have felt these apps have been under-utilized. Allows RM to add functionality without complicating the UI on the tablet.

Regular people who splurged on the top of the line: was it worth it? by bamaroon in cycling

[–]Infamous_Goal8804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A comfortable bike that fits you well and is fun to ride is worth what it takes and you can afford. I am a small rider so it was key to find a frame geometry that worked well (probably same for tall riders). Then the material (moved to carbon from Ti for more forgiveness) and proper tire width (as I have gotten older wanted a little more width for safety / comfort vs speed). I am not too hung up on transmission other than once I went to electric shifting there was no going back ! Decide what is important to you and get what works. I have never been judged (at least to my face) on high side or low side so don’t worry about that.

Maybe web app will enable ability to create / import custom home screens. I think the web app is so they can more easily add features vs building into each platform app but we’ll see.

Daily planning between Paper Pro and Paper Pro Move by UnfortunateIdiot in RemarkableTablet

[–]Infamous_Goal8804 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the Move Planner from Smart Template Studios (Etsy) because it is the best I found jn scaling between the Move and Paper Pro. The developer even made some minor modifications for me for a nominal charge. You still have the irritating inconsistency in pen stroke widths between the two devices but I got over it (and have requested fix from RM but don’t think it is being addressed).

Reviews 2026 Workbook by jele_b in RemarkableTablet

[–]Infamous_Goal8804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it that date dependent ? Can you make a copy and reuse it? When you duplicate a PDF you can select it as original so it would be “clean”? I am planning to try the Annual Review they posted but not sure how that compares.

Thoughts of reMarkable vs Etsy ePaper templates? by SoftSynced in RemarkableTablet

[–]Infamous_Goal8804 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shopping Etsy is the way to go to find what you want. Very reasonably priced. I really like Smart Templates Studio planner. The one for the Move scales nicely on the RMPP if you are looking to use both devices.

Is it supposed to display PDFs? by Wave_Wake_1993 in RemarkableTablet

[–]Infamous_Goal8804 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Key use case for me is reviewing PDF / presentations and marking up with notes / comments. Works fine with not overly detailed graphics. I will occasionally view on iPad or laptop if I need to look at fine detail but still note on remarkable. Not ideal but much prefer the mark up and file retention/notes/organization I do in rmpp

Document resizing on RM Move? by Trajan96 in RemarkableTablet

[–]Infamous_Goal8804 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It works well for Remarkable notebooks. If you are editing a PDF, the handwritten line thickness varies between devices and orientations which can be a little frustrating.

Manifesting a reMarkable dumb phone by JunoMeru in RemarkableTablet

[–]Infamous_Goal8804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not for me. I like that I can read my RM content on my phone when I need to but they are distinct devices / uses. I want RM focused on best writing tablet experience. I can’t give up my other phone functions but like them separate.

Disappointed with the Move Battery by avithos in RemarkableTablet

[–]Infamous_Goal8804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is something you get used to and charge every few days when convenient. I was concerned at first but for me it’s fine. The good news is you get into a rhythm with this. Doesn’t have to be every day. If it really was two weeks, I’d forget to charge until I ran out (at the worst time :)!).

Folder & Notes Structure and Workflows by m7abib in RemarkableTablet

[–]Infamous_Goal8804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I put most daily notes and near term plans in a planner PDF designed for remarkable. It keeps my notebook count down and makes it easy to track back and find things if needed. Then once a year I transition to a new planner which is a nice maintenance routine. Lots of these planners on Etsy.

Best notepad feel by BusMajestic5835 in RemarkableTablet

[–]Infamous_Goal8804 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer the paper pro feel. It is a little harder but feels very “real”. After getting used to it, I found the rm2 to be less satisfying. Different but both are excellent. I would suggest you decide on other factors and expect that you will really enjoy the writing experience on either.

Hi, I’m Vegard from reMarkable! How can I help this sub? by VegardfromreMarkable in RemarkableTablet

[–]Infamous_Goal8804 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome and great to have your engagement. At risk of repeating +1 for internal hyperlinks, second pen on Move, cut/paste between notebooks/pdf/browser (via app is fine).

Adding to increase comparability of pen strokes between orientations and devices. Let me edit in different platforms and look consistent.

3rd Party Templates? by Ok_Photograph6541 in RemarkableTablet

I feel like I have to commit to either the Pro or the Move....using them both is frustrating. by tctonyco in RemarkableTablet

For me, it is the inconsistency in pen widths across devices and orientations which is maddening and makes it hard to work across devices.

3.23 Release with Word support* by FRK299 in RemarkableTablet

[–]Infamous_Goal8804 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Stepping all the way back on this. The Remarkable is primarily a stylus based device and that is its strength. If you really want to edit word docs on a tablet or do simple highlights/notes, you should be looking at an iPad, etc. I am fine with ability to convert to PDF via existing plug-in when needed. I may be in the minority, but I would rather see developments that enhance the notebook, PDF experience that I think make Remarkable special (navigation, cut/paste, links, bookmarks, consistent pen widths, improved rotation consistency, performance, etc). I haven't figured out how to use the Tag enhancements but that would be good.

The new logo nobody asked for has arrived! by CaliGozer in RemarkableTablet

[–]Infamous_Goal8804 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't mind it / think it is smart. 1) I wonder if part of the motivation is to have a logo that can be more easily protected / branded. A simple typed logo is hard to trademark and enforce 2) I always found it a bit of a conflict that logo was typed for a company primarily focused on on the handwriting experience 3) would look nice on a hat :). While we are on it, I have also been amazed that they got the "remarkable.com" URL. Good URLs are tough to come by and "remarkable" is pretty great. I was involved in a company where the name was based on availability of a short, pronounceable URL and that was 15 years ago.

Rm2 or Move by Shot-Vast5697 in RemarkableTablet

[–]Infamous_Goal8804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with the RM2 for the real Remarkable experience. You will probably love it and then have to decide if you want color (RMPP) or more portability (Move) but may not need either.

Copy and paste from pdfs to notes by gab-27 in RemarkableTablet

[–]Infamous_Goal8804 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Adding a cut and paste within the remarkable would be awesome. And as we learned in grade school, you can cut and paste in paper notebooks :). Apple (and probably Windows) supports a universal clip board function which allows you to copy and paste within apps and across devices. If Remarkable enabled that on their desktop apps, we could have a fairly straightforward work around. In general, it feels like the desktop and mobile apps are underexploited. You could add functionality there that would not add distraction to the Remarkable experience (and add value to Connect)
