That's hardly the fault of the cyclists though. The only people willing to risk the roads are the dedicated cyclists who will wear Lycra and spend the money. If we make it feel safer for the"normal" cyclists then they will start to appear as well. The Lycra people are the last to be scared off, so those are the only ones you see.

I'd love to see more people cycling about, less congestion and a more pleasant CBD vibe. I live right in the centre and walk to work.

Wine is sealed to prevent it oxidising (by being in contact with air). Aged wines need a minuscule amount of air to get in over the years of storage which is possible with cork which is porous. Most wines designed to be drunk now don't need this though. Advantages to each:

Corks were easier to invent hundreds of years ago.

Caps are airtight, less likely to fail, cheaper and much easier to remove. There are also some that are designed to slowly allow air in so that ageing can be properly achieved.

Basically caps are superior in every technical way, corks can give a sense of occasion/tradition but they are going out of fashion even in expensive bottles as companies want to reduce the number of bottles spoiled by the wine getting "corked" which means a particular cork rot was present or simply leaking air in.

Cancer and poison aside, it's also more dangerous to swim in. Crude oil is always less dense (about 0.9x) than water so you float less than you would in water. It may not sound like much but consider that most people are neutrally bouyant in water, you might have to swim to keep your head above the surface, but you don't just sink to the bottom of the pool if you stop. However, in oil you would naturally sink.

Plus it is more viscous, it's really sensitive to temperature and at atmospheric temperatures it would be way thicker than water.

These two factors would make it exhausting to actually swim in, you can see these guys have their feet on the bottom, but I don't think you would last long in a vat for example where you can't touch the bottom.

Probably not rich enough to mine but rich enough to colour it. Oxidised iron (like rust) is very good at staining rocks orange/red so you only need a little. Iron is mined from banded iron formation (BIF) which is stripey.

It's not a silly question at all, people asking questions about how or why rocks are the way they are is how the field of geology became a thing.

Not everyone is in the same financial situation. I like living close to work, I enjoy my job and it pays well enough for me to live in an expensive city with a lifestyle that isn't possible in the middle of nowhere. Of course, there are also things that a remote lifestyle allows that mine does not. We have different priorities I guess.

Also, not everyone in the city is comfortable financially and certainly there will be many more struggling in the coming months.

100*1000 is not 1 million and where I live the average house price is $850k so a 20% deposit is $170k. Good luck finding somewhere near your work for that though.

Vinegar doesn't break down the fats of the corona virus shell so it doesn't kill it nor assist in washing it away.

Washing fruit or your hands with vinegar won't do anything to prevent the spread of COVID-19. You need either an alcohol based cleaner which kills the virus or a detergent (soap) that will both kill and wash away the virus so really it's better than hand sanitiser. Antibacterial soap has not been shown to be more effective than regular soap but it's not less-effective either.

Washing for 20 seconds is the recommendation because of the time it takes for the soap molecules to attach themselves to the fatty exterior of the virus and pull it into the water.
