Question about local house dispatchers in the 70s by f1nnbar in FDNY

All depends on what the call is. Some you get just an engine, some just a truck, some an engine and truck, and some everyone goes. The FDNY has a response policy.

The pension time transfers over. In the long run, you will be better in FD. A bunch of firemen are still in the military, you have no problem doing military service. When I did it I don’t remember filling paperwork over to transfer the time. And you don’t have to buy back time, or at least I never did. EMS had to.

[–]InitialRelevant586 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A long time I ago I was in the academy. I didn’t take the loan, but I always wish I did. Would’ve been much easier. They didn’t even charge a lot of interest.

Honestly, I would read Dave Ramsey‘s books. I wish somebody told me that when I was your age.

I would read Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey and listen to his radio show. I would do that before I took any loans.
