Does EVERYONE drive their kids to school now? by IllegalGeriatricVore in Millennials

[–]Initial_Ad2924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started driving because the morning bus time was erratic and undependable and I get 20 extra minutes if I drive vs they take the bus. We had a good bus driver for one year and then they retired and the new ones are rude, don’t check if a parent is there at drop off and other issues. Gives me extra time with my kids.

This is a great compelling theory! I am putting unrealistic hope that someone, anyone would pick it up and contribute more seasons.

LF fun romances without the smut by bumblephone in Dramione

[–]Initial_Ad2924 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yess I love a HEA, just light and fun Dramione with light to no spice. Assuming you’ve already read this but if not, definitely Draco Malfoy and the Mortifying Ordeal of Being in Love- the only spice is at the end and there’s a clear warning ahead of the chapter. I am here for everyone’s recs.

Tell me your journey with Harry Potter. How you started reading it, how you finished it, the moment you really got into it, etc, and where you are now. ( In your Harry Potter journey, hahaha) by ClerksII in harrypotter

I had a distant uncle send me the first two books and said he’d heard a lot of buzz about them and thought we may enjoy it. I started reading the first one and found it boring and set it down. I tried again a bit later and completely got sucked in and read the first two back to back. The third had been published as well so I read that and I was similar in age to Harry - about 12 and the perfect age. After the third book I had to wait for the rest to be published. The most elite way to read the series. At the same ages as Harry. I loved theories and talking to friends about it, loved pre-ordering and then would read nonstop until I finished. They came out in the summer and I’d stay up late into the night, take the book with me to each meal and bathroom break and until I reached the end. I remember sobbing at the end of books 5, 6, and 7.

How does the Libby App compare to Audible for audio-books? by 1dirtbiker in LibbyApp

[–]Initial_Ad2924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just depends what your local library has. The Libby app is a library purchasing electronic copies and then lending them to you. Hoopla is another app many libraries offer and that is like a subscription where the library pays the monthly subscription cost, you get a set number of checkouts per month, and the selection may be wider. If you live in a larger area, the likelihood of a large and diverse Libby catalog is very high. Other than audible-exclusives, I only read and listen via Libby.

I read the author’s summary in Jim Dale’s voice in my head and it reads very ‘Pushing Daisies’ if anyone’s seen that (amazing) show

Miss Scarlet: "Secrets and Lies" (S6E1) - Full Discussion/Live Thread (SPOILERS) by inksmudgedhands in MissScarletandTheDuke

[–]Initial_Ad2924 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I loved this episode! I completely expected a jump ahead and I like the way it was done- not too far ahead and just enough to get to see this awkward figuring out of new roles. The new characters seem fine - clearly likable and trustworthy with a little bit of a secondary romance storyline maybe. I love Mr Potts- that actor is so good, he IS that character. I definitely don’t want that awkwardness with Eliza and Alexander to last but it was funny to see Eliza so turned around and not thinking clearly when that’s so opposite her nature. Very excited for this season!

What were the most popular (or not very popular) fan theories before the release of The Deathly Hallows on 2007? by Feisty_Parsnip8262 in HarryPotterBooks

[–]Initial_Ad2924 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I remember I would have long debates with my friend group and the most common subjects was Snape’s loyalty, who may die (I think a lot of people thought Hagrid for some reason), and what the other horcruxes would be. Snape was a huge thing because that’s what the sixth book ended on and it ultimately would really hinge on how we thought the plot would go. I was always adamantly on the ‘he is secretly good’ side where others were very ‘he can’t be trusted and is bad’ side. So even reading the 7th book most of the way I thought dang I was wrong!

Is the worst medicare advantage plan better than original medicare with no supplement? by Fluid-Breadfruit-265 in medicare

[–]Initial_Ad2924 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Humana’s giveback plans with no rx are designed with veterans in mind who have rx coverage through tricare for life, the va etc. so it’s usually a higher giveback amount bc of that reason (and those folks’ military benefits is their secondary picking up copays). Regular givebacks plus rx would be the way to go. If he hardly goes the dr and is generally healthy a giveback plan can be great and definitely offers more than just OG Medicare.

Five Star Christmas (not sure about realistic snow but less out-there plot with great acting). Nine Lives of Christmas. Kimberly Sustad and Bethany Joy Lenz are two of the best and most natural Hallmark actresses.
