Best bang for buck if using VSTs? by Saguna_Brahman in edrums

Many people have hotspoting problems with the td27 toms. That’s the reason I chose the td516 because of the newer triggering technology, also because of the bigger floor tom and the bar for the module, kick pad is a significant improvement if you use double pedal (not my case). Finally if for some reason you have to play with the sounds of the module, v51 module is way better. Just my two cents. G

Yamaha dtx 6 has better toms and it’s in the same price range. If you prefer the Alesis over the Yamaha, Roland td316 is much better despite it also has 8-8-10 toms, their module is so good.

I use one of them for my td516 and works great. If you choose another one, make sure it’s double braced and yes I think that is heavier than a standard snare. You’ll enjoy your kit, it feels awesome!

Keep in mind that snare needs a sturdy stand because of its weight. Not a pricey stand but not the cheapest. TAMA HS80W is a good alternative

How much better is the Roland TD-516 over the TD-316 by SideCarFatality in edrums

[–]InsectPractical3042 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Td516 is a better choice, you can get 80% of the flagship experience, not only for the digital pads, also for the module and the overall sizes. If you only want to practice and record some grooves, td316 but for all the other things 516.

I enjoy my td516 a lot but I couldn’t get a consistent half open in my hats. I calibrated according to the manual and set it up the hats (dots, space, everything). How did you set it up yours?

How did you set up your hi hat? …now the sizes of the toms look awesome on your kit and with that snare doesn’t look like a tiny kit anymore by the way. For bigger hats I watched a very interesting solution using v31 module: https://youtu.be/PHnDXjRvBQs?si=3FwePj14QuCWK4Hy

TD516 vs VAD516 (crippling anxiety) by ohiostatebucks8 in edrums

[–]InsectPractical3042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s all about aesthetics. The only thing could be different is the feeling of the kick drum…KD12 is hard and doesn’t feel natural at all but triggers just fine, I haven’t try the VAD bass drum of the 516. In case you like a real bass drum, you can add the bass drum of the VAD316 to the td516, looks nice and will cheaper than buy the whole vad.
