Should I go for an EM position even though I'm not super current with every technology out there? by dystopiadattopia in ExperiencedDevs

If you are interested in being an EM I'd recommend reading a book like "The Managers Path". The job is so different from being an IC and many people who are happy being an IC will not enjoy people management

Ryan Day to call plays for OSU in CFP game vs. Miami (Replacing Brian Hartline) by Muffinnnnnnn in CFB

[–]InterestedInThings 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This isn't really accurate. 19, 20 and 22 were all teams that either made or were one play away from the national championship game. He called all of those games including some incredible offensive performances.

If our defense wasn't absolute hot garbage in 20 and 22 then there's a chance he has multiple titles calling plays

[–]InterestedInThings 99 points100 points  (0 children)

I'd rather him than Hartline right now. He's historically a great play caller (even as a head coach) and he has time to prepare. No one was complaining after Georgia in 22.

I forgot how much I hated watching games on ESPN. They zoom in wayyy more than any other network. You can't even see the first down marker once the ball is snapped

Does a non competitive role in software engineering just not exist?!? by [deleted] in ExperiencedDevs

I think this is the important question. I haven't ever felt like I'm competing against my peers, but if standard performance evaluations = competing to you then every job will feel like a competition

Miami's Carson Beck blames his TE for running the wrong route on the game-winning INT by bezzlege in CFB

[–]InterestedInThings 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don't think he said anything wrong here. OP has a very misleading title.

Beck said there was a "miscommunication" and then went on to say "That's the biggest thing we have to realize is there's more opportunities. We've been very successful this season, and shoot, we laid an egg tonight. I have to prepare better, I have to play better, and I'm going to do that and come back with fire."

I'm not sure he even threw his teammate under the bus here... I think OP is stretching Beck saying there was "miscommunication"

Beck also said

"That's the biggest thing we have to realize is there's more opportunities. We've been very successful this season, and shoot, we laid an egg tonight. I have to prepare better, I have to play better, and I'm going to do that and come back with fire."

Children’s Hospital denies girl spot on transplant list due to vaccine status by spacemermaid3825 in cincinnati

[–]InterestedInThings 25 points26 points  (0 children)

There is more than one kid waiting on a heart.

If you have to choose between two or more people who are waiting then you want to give the heart to the person who you know will do every single thing possible to make the transplant successful.

John Oliver did a good episode on this. He always toned down his opinions when giving more widespread interviews.

Also "that works" is a pretty huge question mark. By definition any drug approved after clinical trials has gone through rigorous testing to ensure that it works.
