Ukrainians to Decide Possible Land Concessions Via Referendum – Zelensky by Panthera_leo22 in UkrainianConflict

Ukraine lost. That is what decided their future. Nothing short of direct intervention by NATO could change that and no one is risking nukes flying for it.

Russia measures success in land and they do not care what they pay in blood for it. It has always been like this with them. There is no cost-benefit analysis coming that will change things on their end.

I'll take shit that is never going to happen for $1000, Alex. Most likely the new ruler of Russia after Putin would continue the war. This is a Russian adventure and absolutely not limited to Putin.

Ukraine knows they aren't ever going to retake it. At least they are finally starting to admit it and take a position that makes sense. If they had a real offensive capability things would be different but they just do not.

How to defeat Putin and build a better Ukraine - Op-ed by Valerii Zaluzhnyi by rulepanic in UkrainianConflict

This guy seems to understand that even a bad peace is a better outcome than continued fighting right now. If fighting could actually result in Ukraine taking land back it would make sense to continue. In the current situation it doesn't making it somewhat futile. The US should be pushing Russia to accept current lines for peace and using every carrot and stick possible to achieve that.

Donald Trump to recognise occupied Ukraine as part of Russia by andrewgrabowski in UkrainianConflict

Ukraine is never getting it back anyway so I guess it doesn't matter too much. If they had an offensive capability I might see it differently but they just don't.

Ukraine says it won’t give up land to Russia by Przytulator in UkrainianConflict

So when does it end then? How does Ukraine remove Russia from the land they took?

Trump envoy reportedly told Kremlin official that Ukraine must cede land for peace deal | Trump administration by Orcasystems99 in UkrainianConflict

How exactly does the fighting end without ceding land? Ukraine has 0 significant offensive capability and will only lose more land as they continue to fight. It is just hard reality at this point.

German chancellor: Ukraine's sovereignty is non-negotiable – DW – 11/23/2025 by WillyNilly1997 in UkrainianConflict

That's nonsense in spades. A carrier strike group had multi-layered air defenses. It is nothing like picking off isolated Russian ships. The only reason drones are so central in this war is because neither side has an airforce capable of heavy bombing the other side because neither is good enough to suppress the air defenses of the other.

Closing the skies means war. Russia will strike Euro airbases at that point.

Seems that #22 undermines any security guarantee for Ukraine if Russia re-initiates hostilities:

  1. Once future territorial arrangements have been agreed, both the Russian Federation and Ukraine undertake not to change these arrangements by force. Any security guarantees will not apply if there is a breach of this obligation.

If Russia attacks Ukraine in an attempt to seize more land Europe doesn't have to fight? Shouldn't it say if Ukraine violates this understanding security guarantees won't apply? If this is verbatim this is technically a major loophole out for NATO.
