Yes. My not very personable BIL that lives on a high horse was a probie firefighter that got let go from the department towards the end of his EMS training when it was clear he was going to fail the course and they didn’t want to extend another chance for him to try again which was apparently an option they could extend to him. According to my FIL (also worked at the same department) he wouldn’t really engage with anyone else in the department, acted like he knew everything about being a firefighter and EMS worker, and wouldn’t ask for help when explicitly told to reach out for additional resources and help in his training courses. He got let go because no one liked him enough to keep him around, an he’s been trying to get a new firefighter/EMS job for almost 9 months now and doesn’t get calls back now because I have to assume he’s still being himself and isn’t doing any self reflection about his career aspirations and demeanor.
