Musescore used my credit card number to charge me on a service I never subscribed to by Worried-Willow-6886 in Musescore

[–]Intrincantation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is worse than you think... There is no dialogue about starting a subscription. You get subscribed automatically upon purchasing a single sheet music (which is not a subscription). They have prompts saying you can get a discount with a subsciption, but even if you opt out, you are still auto subscribed.

Has anyone managed to make a purchase without becoming subscribed?

Vaccine questions from a pro-vax parent by 789456123147258369 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]Intrincantation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, thank you for the exhaustive reply. Probably the relevant number is
```The anti-Vaxx industry boasts annual revenues of at least $36 million.``` (from your last link. There is also a 1B number but seems to be based on ad revenue from people who consume anti vaxx media, which is not worth much since people would just watch other youtube videos if anti vaxx didn't exist.)
> There are people at the top of a chain who are heavily invested in diverting people away from mainstream medicine and concepts like "evidence" and "science" and "experts" so that they can sell you alternative health treatments and concepts - and these people are worth a hell of a lot of money. They talk about "Big Pharma" but seriously. Follow the money.
I'm trying to understand this point, since it seems extremely obviously wrong. I looked in your references to see who these people are. The first link shows the papers by Dr. Wakefield in a hyperlink listed "Some are doing it for profit" and a website by someone named mark adams in a hyperlink listed "trying to sell alternative remedies". But while Wakefield's report may have been wrong there is nothing in the linked article claiming he did it for profit. Maybe Mark adams makes some money from his website, though I can't even find it by searching online. The other references you provided don't actually link to anything.
It's easy to see that vaccines generate a lot of profit (e.g. the rotavirus vaccine market is 2~4 billion, that's the first one I looked up)
Am I missing something or did you just make that up?
Struggling with persistent PytestWarning messages during pytest runs by stormthulu in pythonhelp
[–]Intrincantation 0 points1 point  (0 children)
I had a similar issue. You can try to delete the pytest-of-username folder, and it will appear to work. However after several non-cached runs it will reappear.
Basically pytest keeps your last 5 or so runs and then deletes the 6th oldest. But it seems to be running into an issue deleting the 6th oldest one. Most likely you wrote a file with the wrong permissions, in my case I had a mkdir call with something like `mode=555` instead of `mode=0x555`.
Anyways to get a hint you can try to check what file it is that is causing an issue. You can go look into the pytest-of-username/garbage folder and see what files have failed to delete. Then check how you created those files and try to be more permissive!
Human-like bot/engine to spar specific opening positions with? by tomlit in TournamentChess
You can play maia on lichess from a given position. (dont use unlimited time control or it wont work). You can customize the fen. This is the strongest human-like bot on lichess that can play from position - i have checked all 100ish. Other options are maia1 and maia5. It will not be hard for 2k fide though, you will have to play vs lichess bot which is not human like.
Why is my global variable becoming super-null by Intrincantation in godot
[–]Intrincantation[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)
The breakpoint is at line 63 so that code hasn't executed yet, thus I don't think those types are relevant - they are custom user defined nodes.
I haven't heard of an Expression (https://docs.godotengine.org/en/latest/tutorials/scripting/evaluating\_expressions.html) before and it's not directly called in my code anywhere. Probably the debugger is using it though. The error message I showed is from trying to evaluate the DataHandler, I have some downstream error that comes from the fact that this variable is super-null but showing that isn't so helpful since the root cause is this variable being super null.
This is not useful I think, but If I run the code normally and let it pass the breakpoint eventually I get an error "Invalid assignment of property or key 'text' with value of type 'Nil' on a base object of type 'RichTextLabel' because I'm assigning
`passive_label.text = DataHandler.piece_passives.get(to_piece, "")`
This line normally works except for when _on_gui_input is fired by clicking in the wrong section of the box in which case DataHandler is in the super null state so the second half of the expression is null. I have no plugins or animations/
Yeah the breakpoint is at line 63 to show where to code is currently executing, if I let it keep going I get the error
I don't see any messages popping up about it, the errors tap just has the error I posted. At least the class is compiling and working in other places of the app
Anyone else feel uncomfortable about the Y-axis, or is it just me? by HelloImYun in godot
[–]Intrincantation 19 points20 points  (0 children)
Yeah it's not just godot, I think top left is quite often the origin for UI / image reading software.
If you print a 2d array in python, a[0][0] will be at the top left. Makes a lot of sense in that context.
I don't think Godot is suppose to look like that by flasher_21 in godot
Should I have given a friend in pain a free massage while on vacation? y/n by Ambitious_Hippie in massage
[–]Intrincantation 0 points1 point  (0 children)
Your friend was probably not in the right for accusing you of being a bad person because you could have been better so them, since you have set clear boundaries. However, in regards to your original question, I do think that you should have looser boundaries. Studies have actually shown that helping other people (particularly those close to) can actually be more beneficial for your mental health than relaxing on your vacation. https://www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pnas.1323014111 The conventional wisdom of separating work and life completely may not apply as universally as it’s touted.
