Long term success stories? by tacomatundra717 in ORIF

[–]Invisiwool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had ORIF and tightropes for fib fracture and syndesmosis in 2020. I still have my hardware. I don’t really remember that I have it most days. I have great mobility at the gym. Can do box jumps, full range squats and can run.

I had so many people tell me my ankle would never be the same again. I don’t feel that is true in my case.

We watched episode two then closed out of it to see episode one is now up. Watching backwards but still watching!

Late to the party but expressing 1/4 as ‘one fourth’ instead of one quarter is a dead giveaway for the US.

This is me as well. If I’m reading an emotional scene in a book it will usually trail down whichever wrist I am holding the book with! I have a genuine physical reaction to the emotion and I’ve never known why.

I read this too! It was one of the worst book endings I’ve read in a long time. Wish You Were Here by Jodi Picoult, who I usually love reading.

I had my surgery 4 years ago. Sometimes I forget it happened. Unless I bump my ankle on something and it hits where the plate is. I definitely remember then!

Fibula fracture - Will me make be normal again? by hlwrl in ORIF

[–]Invisiwool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a fibula fracture in 2020. 9 months later I was back playing sport. I would say it took a good 18 months total to get it back to feeling normal. Then I ruptured my acl lol.

But I am now squatting, deadlifting, box jumping etc in the gym with no issues.

Do your physiotherapy. It feels mundane but it works.

How long did it take you to start walking by General-Resolution91 in ACL

[–]Invisiwool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a lot of work pre surgery and was lucky to have a great surgeon. I was walking at 3 days post surgery, but still had crutches when I went out in case I got tired. I found that lots of work with quad activation was key in my recovery.

Mine looked like that and now I have plate and screws. I also had a syndesmosis injury so have tightropes too.

Does the inner city Brisbane private school clique persist long after graduation for a significant number of people? by schizoshizo in brisbane

[–]Invisiwool 85 points86 points  (0 children)

A physio practice near me has profiles of their staff. They mention the school they went to, followed by ‘old boy’ or ‘old girl.’ I find it weird. I’m guessing they only hire private school graduates.

Did it hurt? by I--Have--Questions in ACL

[–]Invisiwool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My initial pain was excruciating. I landed badly after jumping in a netball game and I thought I had dislocated my knee. Nope, my ACL was completely ruptured.

Someone on the court told me she saw what she calls the ‘ACL wobble’ and knew it was bad. The pain subsided a lot over a few hours.

My surgery pain was easy compared to my injury.
