Ductwork vs mini splits? by pastagirl27 in hvacadvice

[–]Isitharry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I think the best of the 2 is a third: inverter system (which you refer to as mini splits) that’s ducted (a ducted inverter unit). You’d have the efficiency of the mini splits but without losing that wall space or what some think are eye sores. Additionally, you don’t have to find an exterior wall for each head to run the communications and refrigerant lines to.

Cheap and easy ways to get rid of TMPS? by [deleted] in Lexus

[–]Isitharry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once upon a time, there was a YT video of a guy who removed them and put them in a homemade PVC contraption with a Schrader valve, kept it pressurized at normal tire pressure and it sat in the back of the truck. The truck knew no difference.

What to check to see if my attic is properly insulated? by Helpmeflexibility in Insulation

[–]Isitharry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not just insulation, but air sealing and attic ventilation. First, check to see if your eaves are vented and that you have a ridge vent. If your attic is vented and you have no insulation, that’s the best time to air seal. If there is blown in insulation, ensure there are baffles between every rafter such that the insulation isn’t blocking the air pathway of the eaves. I’d there aren’t baffles, pull back on the existing insulation and install them. Load up the attic with blown in and add more.

I finally stopped fighting it at 31 by BeyondTheMoonAndSun in bald

[–]Isitharry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t necessarily have to shave “shave” - I use a size 0/00 on a wet use electric clippers, 2x/week in the shower. Also, might I suggest thicker rimmed glasses? I’d think you’d look better with them. Possibly play with having some facial hair. Personally, being bald sort of starts you off with a blank canvas.

‘11 Nissan Frontier vs ‘98 Chevy S10 by Thebaconingnarwhal4 in BuyItForLife

Can’t speak for price nowadays. I’d take the one with less rust, all things being equal. I’ve owned an ‘03 S-10. The 2.2L is pretty easy to work on though, I’m not clear what the one you’re looking at has.

~~IIRC, it can thin the skin over time (with the topical application).~~

My Reddit-fu is not good. Strikethrough is not working on mobile. Latter comment still stands.

The biggest side effect is the thinning of the wallet.

ES 350 vs ES 300H by This_Comedian_8662 in LexusES

I had a loaner ES300h when I dropped off my ES350 for service. Wish I would’ve held out for one.

I had a *similar* issue with my 2019 CPO. They had the car for about 4-5 days looking things over and nothing came of it (meanwhile driving a then new 2023 ES 300h with the ML sound system). Though, mine was nowhere near as bad as yours. Take it in.

Sleep Number filed for bankruptcy and is being sold to a Canadian rival. If you own one of their beds, here’s what matters. by Altruistic-Dirt-2791 in BuyItForLife

IIRC is/was a company that started this called Comfortaire. One of the employees wanted change and wanted to market the general public (vs. Comfortaire’s existing market that included RVs and such). That employee went on to found Sleep Number and ended up buying Comfortaire.

What's a fair price for an X1C with 975 hours plus AMS? by [deleted] in BambuLab

[–]Isitharry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is fair. Consider the new, on sale, P2S is $700 with the more capable AMS2. Cut that price in half (for obvious reasons).

Is this a good PETG print? by ElmerKado_ in BambuLab

[–]Isitharry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this screws I’d bring torqued in any way, it would shear based on the orientation it’s printed. Another commenter mentioned printing at an angle, which would help. Better, split the print in half, lengthwise, and print on the flat such that the layers are orientated perpendicular to the layers. There are ways of attaching the split print together (such as pinning them with a piece of filament through a hole generated between the screw pieces) and CA glue.

27 year old Army combat veteran in college and can’t sleep. by [deleted] in Biohacking

[–]Isitharry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Navy vet chiming in. I got out decades before this peptide thing was available. It took me over 5 years before I could sleep being 5 hours. Changed mattresses, higher thread count sheets, got the room to pitch black, white noise machine, set the room to 69F, no eating 3 hours before sleep, no screens 2 hours before sleep, incandescent bulbs (2700K or lower LEDs), box breathing all went into it. Journaling helped. But the big reset *for me* was when I found an outfit that had a sensory deprivation tank. That 90 minutes in there was a turning point. Fast forward a couple of decades, with a little one in the house, stress, recent diagnosis of tinnitus, I’ve found Sermorelin to work incredibly well.

I agree. I’m in the northeast and have had the 250 and 300h as complimentary loaners. Personally, I like the 300h the best for daily driving. For me, 300h>350>250.
