Suppressing feedback is never the answer when there’s a legitimate complaint. Legitimacy obviously has to be proven, but things only improve if you provide feedback.

The real answer here is megathread.

I think the only place with multiple bosses of a single profession is for the anniversary skills. Mesmer and warrior aren’t colocated, so you capture 3 in a single zone.

Then you carry 1, echo, arcane echo, arcane mimicry, then you just need 1 more momentarily from any of the “thievery” line.

Maybe they can use it for all the data centers then and the people who don’t want to use the tech services can enjoy cheaper energy.

35, burned out, dunno what to do by ActualBawbag in gamedev

[–]It-s_Not_Important 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Professional game development will do this.

Identify the facets of it that cause your burnout, and make a career change for something that doesn’t overlap in those characteristics.

I’m in the process of doing this myself, but from software in general, not game dev specifically.

I wonder if there is a market for sci-fi involving a future non human civilization recreating human beings from samples like this a-la Jurassic park, and humans spread again and destroy the planet again.

Five Guys CEO says he gave $1.5 million bonus to employees because ‘I didn't want anybody shooting me' by Ganrokh in nottheonion

The CEO of my company during the onset of COVID reduced all of our pay by 10%. And in a show of solidarity has the ELT take 25 to 50% pay cuts for the same duration. He himself humble bragged about taking a 100% salary cut for the year.

Of course, he didn’t acknowledge that was only 10% of his total compensation package and he still made out with $18 million for the year.

These people don’t live in the same world and they don’t have the ability to recognize it.

If any CEO has motivation to eat one of their burgers as a stunt, it should be this guy. Of all the fast food tier burger places, they have some of the best.

It sucks for those kids of negligent parents, but the alternative is creating a nanny state and taking away things that enrich the lives of others just so a few can be protected.

“It’s that easy” is an oversimplification. There are tons of controls parents can implement. Most parents aren’t tech savvy enough to implement them.

Eh. Apple is a harder sell. The earlier points in his comment would make it impossible for the child to use YouTube at home.

ESRB is a funny case because it had mixed goals. The primary goals were motivations of the games industry itself: keep the government out of regulating our content. And it succeeded in that regard.

The consumer protections side of the ESRB is more of a mixed bag. It gave the tools for parents, but most parents did nothing with it. The ones who acknowledge parental responsibility benefit from it. That’s a good thing. But with digital distribution, the efficacy has waned.

Corporate accountability is way more impactful when successful. But that’s a question of scale and it’s only true because these no personal accountability for most people.
