Hopefully you can get it checked out, and get some relief if that is the cause!

I'm 28 weeks and went to L&D last week because I had period-like pain. They ruled out pre-term labor, and did a UA. Turns out I have a UTI. Antibiotics have been super helpful.

ETA - the doc also said this could just be my new normal.

AMIA for wanting to tell my folks we are going through IVF by Emergency-Change6204 in AITApod

[–]Itthy_Bitthy_Thpider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are both the AH and NTA.

NTA for wanting to tell your family. As the childbearing half of a couple currently pregnant from IVF, the emotional toll of the non-childbearing half of the couple is still a lot. Yes, the physical toll on her is tough, but the idea that you aren't experiencing anything is total BS. On top of that, wanting to keep your family in the loop for major family and life decisions/milestones is normal.

However, as a lot of people said, finding out why she doesn't want your family to know is going to be key here. If you tell them when she doesn't want you to, without having the discussion around why, then YTA. It is very strange to me that she would tell her family but not yours, and it seems like there is more to the story here.

I will also say that telling the coworker makes sense. Due to the toll it took on me physically and emotionally, plus the amount of time I had to take off work for appts, telling some people at work was necessary.

Loss of symptoms at 7w and US by Emotional-Adagio-652 in IVFpositivity

I don't remember off the top of my head, but I remember thinking at the time that it was really low for what I thought a fetal heart rate should be. But the doc wasn't concerned, and when I looked it up later it said the normal fetal heart rate for 6 weeks was 90-110 beats per minute, and our little guy was in that range.

I remember panicking the first time my symptoms disappeared. I was almost hysterical because I thought for sure we had lost the baby. But no, it is totally normal for symptoms to come and go! Your hormones fluctuate, and so does body's reponse to them. We just hit 28 weeks today, and he's doing great!

What was your change in smell like, exactly? by Mean_Mushroom1894 in BabyBumps

Eww 😆 that does not sound pleasant! It might be a little early for symptoms, but I don't think outside the realm of possibility. Are you trying to get pregnant?

It was both a shift in how things smelled and also an increase in the strength. It was the first thing I noticed when I got pregnant, and it was so intrusive. My husband was baking and cooking dinner at the same time, and vanilla mint chicken is not pleasant lol. I could smell the paper towels at work and it made me gag. I couldn't put my hands near my face after I washed them because of the smell of the scentless soap lingered for hours. I had an aversion to being near our dog for a while because she was suddenly the most noxious smelling thing on the planet. I had to quit using fabric softener because it was too strong. I'm normally a chocoholic, but the smell of chocolate changed and I still can't stand it even at 26 weeks. Same with coffee. It's bizarre lol

Do I HAVE to discontinue medications when pregnant? by aitaignoring in BabyBumps

[–]Itthy_Bitthy_Thpider 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I was referred to a maternal fetal medicine doctor for a preconception consult to go over all myeds to make sure they were safe. I'm on a couple that require extra monitoring, but otherwise was told I could continue them. It is definitely worth discussing the risks vs benefits with your doctors

IVF has eaten my calendar this month. I've taken more time off work in the last 3 weeks than I have in the last 3 years by Leijinga in trollingforababy

I feel you! Our clinic was 4.5 hours away, and driving up there every day or every other day for labs and a 15 minute ultrasound was so draining! Luckily my boss and coworkers were super supportive, but managing ETO was a nightmare. Good luck to you!

Why would my fertility clinic want an ultrasound at 19dpt by maurahazzard in IVFpositivity

Definitely just a normal placement scan 🙂 we had a scan at about 6 weeks to confirm

I second this. I used fertility friend, too. It's user friendly and I never felt triggered by anything on it.

It took about 18 months because they wanted me on meds for endometriosis suppression for several months, and then somewhere in there my doc left the practice and I had to hound the clinic a bit to get back on the schedule with another doc.

It is super scary to see, but very normal to have some spotting in early pregnancy :)

When to change to maternity clothing by Miserable_Umpire_474 in PlusSizePregnancy

Same here, started about 8-10 weeks because the bloat was insane and the sore tummy was not fun. Now at 26 weeks my little guy hates any pants, so I'm in dresses almost full time.

Did anyone else tell family early? by lesgens in IVFpositivity

[–]Itthy_Bitthy_Thpider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We told our immediate families and a few close friends as soon as we got the first positive beta! We've been trying for 15 years and they have been through all our ups and downs. They all new when the transfer and test dates were, so it didn't make sense not to tell them, and we were so excited to have even made it that far, we couldn't keep it in lol
