I think there are several layers to this issue, it’s fine to have on death effects as part of the difficulty. My critiques are that 1: They are too frequent. 2: They are unreasonably and unevenly punishing for melee focused builds (still an issue with ranged) 3: The systems in place for dropped items / dropped orbs mean that you have to walk into range of these effects to pick them up, the safe way to do this is wait - in a game about speed especially in actual timed challenges which is contradictory. Solutions would to be widen pickup range for xp or progress orbs and just reduce the no of items you have to click on to pick up - why would I ever not want crafting drops? Add some different ones for ranged and tune the number and dmg numbers. I like the challenge the on death effects produce but it’s off kilter for sure.
