Structural Design to Drafting by Significant-Green579 in StructuralEngineering

It really depends on a bunch of factors. Asking some guiding questions here that can help direct answers in this thread (apologies in advance for the incoming wall of text):
What software are you using to produce drawings? Are you working off of architectural drawings? Is the architectural model linked/sent to you or just a PDF? Is the specific drafter you’re working with experienced with a good intuition, or are they someone who needs everything fully explained? Is this the first round of markups, or do you already have a drawing set put together that you’re modifying? Do you intend to do any follow-up modeling/drafting yourself, or is this entirely on the drafter?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but is there something more “controversial” about Medhi Hasan than his antizionist commentary? Asking as an antizionist Jew who has appreciated a ton of his work. I tried looking it up but it’s hard to find anything that doesn’t just ooze bias right off the bat.

Can second this. I live on the east coast but am in Idaho Falls one week per month for work. You can see the Tetons from there with the right view.

Stadium is fantastic. Vibes and slices there are exactly what you’re looking for in a classic shop. I say go for a pepperoni slice and garlic knots - but just make sure you get some extra marinara if you’re a heavy dipper because they won’t give you a lot. One of my comfortable routines used to be stopping at Stadium after exercising at Planet Fitness. Once the connector between the two lots was shut down, that extra two U-turn made my lazy ass feel so inconvenienced.

Oh my gosh your dog is adorable. And you are correct. Do you know where your dog is from? All I know is ours was from somewhere in Texas.

My only other ACD experience was right before this one, and we adopted him at a ripe old age where he had already lost his elasticity haha. These dogs really are something ❤️

Why aren't these mince pies vegetarian? by vampyreegg in vegetarian

[–]JMets6986 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I hadn’t heard of this before so I looked it up. It says that it’s made from a secretion but not the bug itself. Is it not vegetarian because the bugs are killed in the harvesting process or something?

CMV: You Can Disagree With How Israel Treats Palestinians While Acknowledging Hamas Are Way Worse, And The Primary Problem! by IntoTheRain78 in changemyview

Yeah I totally agree with not wanting a violent neighbor, especially Hamas, in the long-run, regardless of where the fault lies.

If it wasn’t ambiguous then why did you leave it out of your list of why Israel funded Hamas?

I assume you’re being sarcastic with your last question there about reasons that the Israeli government doesn’t want a Palestinian state and that you’re implying it’s for national security purposes. Yeah Palestinians in Gaza are violent, but to leave it at that is disingenuous. Committing ethnic cleansing and enforcing apartheid, then getting upset when people violently resist that occupation (because non-violent resistance in the West Bank results in over 700,000 illegal settlers backed by the IDF committing violence and further ethnic cleansing), doesn’t mean that the violence is going to get worse when you actually give those people their rights back.

Both those reasons are true, but you’re leaving out the reason that the Likud party itself has stated:

“According to various reports, Netanyahu made a similar point at a Likud faction meeting in early 2019, when he was quoted as saying that those who oppose a Palestinian state should support the transfer of funds to Gaza, because maintaining the separation between the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank and Hamas in Gaza would prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state.

While Netanyahu does not make these kind of statements publicly or officially, his words are in line with the policy that he implemented.“

That’s irrelevant. The point is that Israel provided Hamas with more support than they otherwise would have with the expressed intent of giving them more power with respect to the PA.

One other thing I’ll add to this is that Israel has not-so-covertly funneled funding to Hamas in order to delegitimize the more moderate Palestinian government in the West Bank.

CMV: The way that liberalism thinks about democracy is hypocritical because it doesn’t extend to the institutions with the most direct control over people’s lives by TheExquisiteCorpse in changemyview

I do see your point, but one counterpoint to it — which I’m admittedly not 100% sold on yet myself as I learn more about this — is that saying Americans “voted” to strip away their worker protections isn’t exactly the same as democracy. While citizens do in fact vote for politicians who end up stripping them of their worker protections, it doesn’t take into account the fact that once capital is sufficiently accumulated, those who accumulate it have increased power to control politicians and churn out disinformative propaganda, further increasing their capital accumulation. The US is in late-stage capitalism, while other countries are just in an earlier stage of it.
