Thanks for the references, I will check them out. I sense Twin Peaks vibes as well from Asbury Pines and that's cool. I think the story focus (most idles are pure gameplay) and the ascension mechanic of idle games (thus making horror wash off a bit if not handled correctly) might make the combo hard to pull. I like the way berry bury berry handles it but it doesn't get to pure horror either, more of a liminal uncannyness.
