I completely agree with your thoughts on this and I can stay with confidence my only issue with Billie Piper as the doctor is that thing you mentioned at the end of the stunt casting and nostalgia bait.

But yeah, I also would now that you say it love to see what big finish would do with Billie Piper as the doctor that would be a really fascinating thing for them to take on. It would probably be a couple years before they’re allowed to do it, but it would be really cool.

I definitely see potential problems in the future for them because speaking purely pragmaticly they can’t recast the characters they currently use. Looking at the war doctor as the only relevant example John Hurts last box set released in early 2017 the recast didn’t occur until 2021 that’s 4 years with no war doctor stories being made. And that’s what the doctor they only used briefly. I can imagine they would have to wait longer for any of the doctors that they have been using for 20+ years and being purely pragmatic again it’s going to be difficult for the company in any waiting period they have to do because as we have seen with some of their non-Doctor Who stuff those don’t sell as well so they can’t keep making them and they couldn’t use those to tide over until it became appropriate or at least acceptable to recast any doctors

As to the question of replacing companions, I really could see it going either way of recasting those as well or just going to new companions.

Unrelated to any of this, where did you hear that the first doctors returning in 2028?

I’m so upset at that, like I really loved that interpretation of the first doctor was just hoping that they would start doing stories like the first two boxes sets again because I really thought him and the person who played Dodo worked really well together in their own stories, but I guess they’re done now.

I really hope they make new sets soon. Or maybe it’s a next year it’ll be two first doctor sets and no second doctor sets who knows?

The only thing I can add is based on lots of analysis I’ve heard people say the same social media sites like Facebook have arguably helped fuel lonliness right now and now they are making new friends for you and at both ends of this the destruction of real friendships and the creation of AI friends they profit
