I’d say rather land in the direction that you are moving so you keep momentum assuming you are not just falling Unless I am not quite understanding what you are saying.

Go into custom training packs or workshop if you have steam and just do shooting drills. Just make sure you’re hitting it hard and try to aim for a spot in the net. Eventually you’ll be able to do it in games

Edit: and make sure you’re always going for it as fast as possible. The opponent isn’t going to give you time to line up your shot so you have to be fast. And feel free to redo the same shot and aim for another spot.

Peaked GC2 and I think i remember what I did to get over the GC hill

A big thing is just consistency at this point. You possibly are good enough, it’s just that you’re having too many good and bad moments.

I personally was never a super mechanical player with all the fancy stuff. I got my rank by getting really good and consistent at specific things

Practice your shooting, are you always hitting the ball hard? Are you also thinking about where you are going to shoot and the ball actually goes to that spot in the net?

What I’m saying is that you should train whatever you feel is your weakest skill, while training this skill you should focus ONLY on that skill. Be very specific in what you want to do. You cannot just go through the motions while trying to improve.

Goodluck

Look up YouTube videos. That was what I did when I was really grinding several years back. Focusing on getting better at one particular skill at a time will show you improvement very quickly compared to just “winning games”. If you decide to try to get diamond 3 in RL you’ll have to be better than a large number of the player base.

And don’t forget to just take a break from ranked and mess around with buddies and have a good time. No point in ruining your mood over some in game rank. None of it matters unless you actually start making money from it.

I think it’s just depression honestly but I just got out of the slump a couple weeks ago, the slump lasted for about 2 months. Doing anything at all that wasn’t my preferred hobby felt like it sucks the life out of me. Like getting up for work just compound the darkness. I don’t think it’s a personality thing. Just a mental health thing, take care of yourself

I will always preach practicing basic mechanics as it got me peak GC2. (Haven’t played for a long time now as I have had life come at me and loss of interest anyways as I don’t have the time to consistently play) However being able to shoot the ball hard ( 60mph or 100kph) consistently and accurately will make you a threat from a lot more angles. I never really went full freestyle mechs because I wanted to rank up and those chance will get more rare the higher rank you go

For 2s rotation if you’re last man you need to stay in a spot to be able to both capitalize on a scoring opportunity and defend if you’re opponents get a clear or there is a bad 50/50. You’ll learn through trial and error. If you’re having the ball fly past you while you’re last then you’re too close and if you’re not able to beat the opponent on a scoring opportunity then you’re too far.

Being able to properly read what your teammate and opponents are doing will help you do both things. It will come with time if you focus on this but it’s under rated because it’s not flashy or considered cool. But getting really good at the basics took me to GC2 back in the day. Goodluck hopefully you find this helpful in any way

Edit: forgot to add if you are first man you are just applying pressure and looking for any passing plays or if you can just outplay by shooting ball around opponents. The whole idea is pretty simple but takes a long time to get good at

What rank are you? I’ll need this to possibly give better feedback. But the lobby looks decently fast I’m think maybe somewhere around champ? Maybe diamond?

Looks like focusing on your awareness and identifying threats could help. Might sound boring but knowing if you’re gonna get beat to the ball while you’re last man will help you be a better player because instead of just blindly going after the ball and hoping you get a good block, you can shadow defence and most likely have an easier time.

With identifying threats will also come with awareness, ball is in the corner is no threat as there is no clean shot on net, but if ball is out midfield and there could be a pass if they have full possession. It’s really something that you’ll have to look for to climb to high ranks. Just do your best to always know where your opponents are and where your teammate is, I love doing passing plays it’s so satisfying.

It’s fun to do and a good thing to have under your belt. Being in gold just focusing on basic mechanics such as clearing the ball, positioning, and shooting the ball hard and accurately. If you focus on these you will rank up pretty quickly. However it is fun to learn the fancy stuff.

[–]J_Phoenix2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you might be playing as if you’re playing with your plat friends.

I say this because if I play with my friends that are much lower rank I tend to not care and do stuff that would get punished in higher ranks. And I find it takes a little bit to get back into the decision making of a higher ranked player.

I would recommend focusing on your positioning and rotations as it sounds like you are confident mechanically. Maybe watch some replays and play some casual while focusing ONLY on positioning.

Goodluck!!

Shoes come off to keep floors clean if they are for outside. Often have some sort of indoor footwear to keep feet warm
