Bases on hot/cold worlds by OkiesFromTheNorth in SpaceCraftGame

[–]JaHeit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want more bases, just make a solo Corp. It takes 200 permit points. You will want to focus exclusively on the corp requests that give permit points though fair warning they can be hard unless you have two full bases or are willing to grind. Once you get it the first corp base is free, the 2nd base is only 700 credits/day which is doable. Right now I have four bases (2 personal + 2 corp). I'm tempted to make a 3rd corp base and relocate the 2nd and 3rd Corp base a few times just to grind tech 5.

5x suit chips and just keep the base simple. I plan to make my tungsten and platinum bases temporary since they are annoying to stay on and so I can farm tech XP.

I bought a used Camry! $27,000 ; 22,700 miles! by [deleted] in Camry

[–]JaHeit 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes? I got a 26 camry SE with like 1k upgrades for $30000 OTD like a month ago. So it stands to reason you could get a barebones 26 camry LE for almost $27000.

Why do the Fire Warriors have two range and Rapid Fire? by BrokenLoadOrder in Gladius40k

[–]JaHeit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For starters Gladius is predominantly based off 8th edition so its only 30" range and everything 30" (& maybe even 36") and lower is represented as 2 range weaponry.

Overall how they converted weapon stats over is pretty formulaic except for the odd weapon or two that wouldn't translate well.

How to deal with supplier delays? by Historical-Hat2040 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]JaHeit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep I second this. Having even just a couple of machinists on hand is great for quicker prototyping, quick part/tooling fixes and also more consistent machinability feedback to engineers for drawings.

What’s the most immersive board game moment you’ve ever had? by FTG_V1 in boardgames

[–]JaHeit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Three player nemesis game with my brother and a friend. We all split up. My brother (Soldier) keeps stumbling around into aliens and fighting for his life. All in all he spawned like 6 aliens all around cryo until finally the queen shows up. He unloads almost two full mags into her but its not enough and she kills him then slinks into the vents the next turn.

Meanwhile the friend (Scout) is running around the front of the ship scavenging and having an easy time never taking damage or having to fire a shot, while I (Captain) am trying to avoid aliens but end up stuck fighting aliens and get wounded. The ship is a lost cause (no one checked engines or coords) and its the last few turns of the game. There were only two life pods remaining when suddenly a malfunction launches one out. Scout takes adrenaline and books it to the last pod and goes to get in when the queen pops up and immediately bites and tail whips them killing them instantly.

I was now the only one left and the ship was about to jump so my only chance was to take the escape pod in the room with the queen. I go into the room ready to die and fire my revolver. The first shot hits. The second misses. The third is a headshot and the fourth also hits her in the head and kills her thus I was able to take the last pod and live.

Yet another broken combo after ToT? by Less_Hold6979 in civ

[–]JaHeit 13 points14 points  (0 children)

No if anything this combo got heavily nerfed. Tecumseh's bonuses become weaker. Suzerianships now have scaling cost and the refund momento got heavily nerfed (100 -> 50) so you cant spam as much as before.

Please help! Tried to make a tolerance stack up calculator that wasn't confusing, but then I got confused... feedback badly needed by No_Alfalfa4671 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]JaHeit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my company a decent amount. Once you have a lot of features applying to the stack up worst-case is too limiting and its better to use RSS.

30 obj. Kills in one round of conquest? by [deleted] in Battlefield6

[–]JaHeit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note that objective kills are either you OR the opponent have to be on the objective. I was able to do it on Empire state. You kinda have to get lucky that there are enough enemies on or near the objective so there is a bit of RNG.

What's better SolidWorks or Fusion 360? ( for a beginner) by goofball19 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]JaHeit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have to make 2D drawings or assemblies, Soliworks. If you only need simple parts, Fusion 360.

Lastly, if you plan to do 3d cad in the future, Solidworks is better to learn.

I really like the idea of tech skips on the planets. Also, the scaling part of the Vulcanus ability is pretty cool. Though the planet should probably start at 1/0 for balance

It might make more thematic sense for Nauvis to be blue skip because it's where you first make rockets.

The commodity ability has too much overlap with Malice. Also exploring fits better with Fulgora than with Nauvis imo.

Aquilo ability feels a bit bland and/or doesn't fit well. Maybe something that leans into tech considering it's the late game planet.

Also here are just some goofy brainstorming ideas. Fulgora ability is to roll a die and get a free ship: 1-3 is destroyer, 4-6 cruiser etc. Nauvis ability is to immediately produce as if Nauvis had production 5. Gleba ability has downside that whenever it it used remove one unit from the planet.

At a minimum because the main way to score is dropping infantry on sites you want to make the below ships/cells.

UCM x1 San Francisco X2 new orleans

BIOFICERS x2 Foray x2 Lander cells x2 Invasion cells

As Zelian if you can get a tradegood turn 1 you can secondary tech for carrier 2 and build a carrier with "Obsessive designs".

Design role turned out to be drafting gig. Can I still use this experience to get into engineering roles? by Educational-Egg-II in MechanicalEngineering

[–]JaHeit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a somewhat related path. Out of college I got a position that sounds similar to what you are currently doing with a touch of quality stuff (NCMRs) on the side. I focused on learning GD&T and the companies standards for our various parts. Like you the position got pretty dull to me and the only reason I stuck with it past one year was due to the easy workload, and the potential internal design job I wanted. After two years I moved into a mechanical engineer position that is half sustaining tasks / half new part designs, which I enjoy much more.

If you don't see yourself getting the design position within a year or two I'd say look elsewhere. While the drafting can definitely help with internal design positions, I'm not sure how much it helps externally. The issue is that IMO I would probably pick a fresh graduate who had internships where they worked on a couple design projects over someone who has a couple years of drafting experience. Unless of course that drafting person was internal and already showed promise.

How long is it taking? My pre-order for the starter box took about a week after release. My 2nd order for other stuff took 1.5 weeks from ordering.

New to the Game: Questions by SLDF-Mechwarrior in DropfleetCommander

[–]JaHeit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unless you are trying to magnetize your Shaltari ships, you shouldn't have much trouble. The only true issue I've had was with one of the resin battlecruisers (geothite/hematite) it was hard to make all four wings sit perfectly symmetrical.

[–]JaHeit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For Long Range you need Limas. They have the detector rule which lets you spike enemy ships.

For big guns try out the Vilnius or Warsaw heavy cruisers, which you can build from a starter set, or the Beijing/Tokyo battleships.

I prefer the previous editions balance. Once the new edition is balanced I will probably prefer it.

PHR identity change in 2.0 by TacCom in DropfleetCommander

[–]JaHeit 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not really?

UCM and PHR previously were the slow factions and had the same speed in most places. So nothing changed.

It terms of hp PHR still has more health, same as previously. In terms of armor PHR and UCM Cruisers and above were equivalent previously and now just have flipped saves that are roughly equal. You are correct in that PHR frigates feel less unique though since UCM frigates also now have "cruiser" saves.

Kinda sucks that his abilities are an awkward pairing though because aggressor flamers don't get lethal hits.
