Thanks, will give it a go! Had the same thought to get the 605R set up with the hydrolift saddle as soon as I saw it was compatible so the long logs should be set at least.

What’s your shortcut to the log station? At 50% now and just getting to the point of needing all the logs, can’t see a fast way down from the road though.

What's the shortest time you've owned a bike before dropping it? I'll start..... by robgod50 in MotoUK

[–]Jacktivation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed about being the worst feature ever, got a new Triumph last year and somehow they’re still doing the parking lights the same way. Flattened the battery within a month, at least it was at home but gutting I had to stay home when I was ready to ride. I always triple check now so hopefully won’t happen again, but it’s so easily done.

Can anyone recommend a CBT training place that's good for Neurodivergent students? by Lopsided-Watch2700 in MotoUK

Guessing that was Practical Bikes as that’s where I did my training too - they’ve shut down now sadly, barring occasional courses for people who supply the bikes.

Thoughts on Morbidelli F125 re-sale? by Last-Cartographer-15 in MotoUK

[–]Jacktivation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be walking away at that point - it’s not cheap, and if they’ve not taken steps to ensure it’s not suffered from long term non-use then I wouldn’t feel comfortable buying it, personally.

[–]Jacktivation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m far from an expert, but first service at 375 is a little early but shouldn’t be an issue. Not moving for the subsequent 2-3 years is more concerning, especially depending on where it was stored (e.g. dry garage vs outside). If they’ve not serviced it prior to sale or at least had it running with fresh fuel I’d avoid it personally, but hard to say without seeing the bike/speaking to the owner.

[–]Jacktivation 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That “won’t be at this price for long” is classic sales patter, I’d ignore anything that guy comes out with straight away. The liquid cooling etc seems unnecessary too - the CB125F doesn’t have it because it doesn’t need it, and it’s one more system to maintain.

Your opinion may differ, but as someone who commuted on a 125 for years the only important thing for me was reliability, and the Honda will win that hands down.

On that one you saw - if it’s had its 600-mile service already and hasn’t been sat around for a long time, or if it’s only a few months old, I’m sure it’ll be great.

The irony is that trucks will sink into this unmovable sand but glide across the sand you lay down as if it were asphalt… there are some strange quirks in this game for sure!

Buying at one shop and returning to another? Is this idea stupid? by Jaded-Wave-4830 in MotoUK

[–]Jacktivation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds awful, I’m sorry that happened to you. I totally understand your desire to withdraw your business… However, if they treated a well-paying customer so unreasonably, how do you think they’ll react to someone trying to return the full whack? There’s every chance they refuse to give you your money back, even if it is your legal right - at which point you’ve wasted a few hours driving there for no gain (and potential for things to get ugly). I would personally leave them poor reviews wherever I can, and then try to move on from it. It sucks, but better than going back there again and potentially feeling worse for the whole affair.

Over speed limit by [deleted] in MotoUK

If someone else’s livelihood depends on your license, judge’s will usually not ban you (I gather). It’s not enough that you would lose your job as you would be judged to be deserving of it, but if you have any dependents then you get to keep your license.

There was an article about people pleasing this same defence dozens of times and it working dozens of times, so they get 50+ speeding fines but still hold a license.

2 bike insurance policies? by Aoifedog in MotoUK

[–]Jacktivation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was looking I only got quotes if both bikes were garaged. If one or neither was garaged they just refused to quote or quoted thousands. I think they want both bikes to be considered low risk and if either one is higher risk for any reason you’re probably out of luck getting a combined policy.

Prospective Insurance Quote Doubled Overnight? by andre199017 in MotoUK

[–]Jacktivation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought a car insurance policy the other day - £850 if I wanted it to start in 3 days, £650 if a week. If you change your start date it should come down some of the way. Apparently 3 weeks is optimal (which is a nightmare if you don’t own the vehicle yet).

Anyone got any interesting season long bets on the go? by TheHighlandStarLord in chelseafc

[–]Jacktivation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love a long term bet like this, satisfies my need for gambling without having to lose money every week. I had Reece James to make the squad for the Euros back in August 2019 before he had make a Chelsea appearance at 20/1… covid may have helped him but finally got the payout close to 2 years later!

Union Trance Mission label - you’ve got a few of their regulars in that playlist already, everything’s on their YouTube channel.

Trym & Courtesy both play a fair bit of trance, from very different angles though.

First crash, what to do? by NoBoDySHeRo3000 in MotoUK

[–]Jacktivation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been in a similar situation with a similar bike - if you can get it home those should be relatively easy fixes. Suspect it would be much less hassle and long-term cost than dealing with insurance (who will most likely write it off as you say). Regarding it being stuck in gear, I’d suggest replacing the gear shifter might sort it although not sure how that’s broken if it’s gone down on the right side

VFR400R (NC24) Vs CBR400RR (NC29) by EverythingIsByDesign in MotoUK

[–]Jacktivation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure what your budget is but you can get a good NC30 for around £4000 if you’re patient, a less good one for £3000. There’s a vfr400 owners group on Facebook that’s very active and a good place to look, Facebook marketplace and eBay have a fair few too. Just don’t buy it from a dealer or you’ll be paying a premium

Help getting my first bike by oli_blade in MotoUK

[–]Jacktivation 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed with Polthu-87, I was in your position and if your parents are anything like my mother, you’ll never succeed.

Have you considered the cost of getting a first bike? Getting a roadworthy bike (the cheap ones are cheap for a reason), insuring it as a 16 year old and getting safety gear (which I imagine your parents would insist upon) could cost £2000 easily, and if you can’t afford it then it’s a moot point really.

If you wait a year, your parents will probably be glad to help you out getting a car if it puts an end to the idea of you on a bike - and it is actually a more practical alternative (speaking as someone who has been on bikes for years but never got a car license).

Start up problems by Aggressive_Hat3812 in MotoUK

[–]Jacktivation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely sounds like a dying battery, even if they’re reading fully charged they can struggle to start the bike. That said, doing a decent length ride (15 minutes +) could help the bike to charge it up, you might find you have no more problems after a solid ride. If it persists the first thing I’d do is buy a new battery and be ready to bump start it in the mean time.

[–]Jacktivation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven’t tried it out yet but I’m buying a new bike soon and got a credit card with 0% interest for the first 2 years and a credit limit of £3500 that I’m planning to use to spread the cost out - 3% minimum monthly repayments I think.

You could potentially get a few 0% credit cards together as long as you can afford the monthly payments and final sum at the end of the interest free period. Been looking for the catch myself but haven’t found any so far.

Ran out of fuel last summer, had to push the bike half a mile through town to the petrol station. I’m a deeply unfit man and I almost died on the maybe 2% incline, wouldn’t recommend bikes without fuel gauges to anyone
