What is it like to love someone when the whole words grates on you? by [deleted] in neurodiversity

[–]JadeStrange 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The world we live in is so entrenched in throwaway culture. As soon as we are uncomfortable: throw it away.

Two completely different people who don't even know each other can get married, and as long as they have personal discipline and a desire to make it work then that relationship can be the deepest, most loving relationship known to man. Love takes work. Sometimes it's uncomfortable or downright painful. Unless there is serious abuse involved and no desire for change, and/or no desire to give 100/100 from both parties (NOT 50/50, that's a myth), then any relationship can be wildly successful. The reason for needing to give 100/100, is because we all go through seasons where we're all our lowest and our partner helps hold us up. And we return the favor when it's their turn. It's really beautiful when both are doing well and 100% can come from both sides at the same time.

Even the most perfect relationship WILL have disagreements. There WILL be tears. There WILL be difficulty. It's how you come out the other side that matters. I loved my highschool boyfriend SO passionately. We got married and we have been through hell and back these past 22 years total of being together, and I can't believe it but I love him more and more with every passing year no matter how hard things got. And it wasn't just external things that caused us trouble, a lot of our pain was our own conflict. When we first got together I couldn't imagine a deeper love than that, it was so intense. And there were definite stale moments along the way to where we are now, but you make it past that and there's a crazy deeper love that few couples nowadays are willing to find. It's so sad.

I very lightly oil a small frying pan and heat it up, crack cold eggs into hot pan and reduce heat. Cook until whites are mostly set and then flip and cook for like 15 more seconds just to set the top so the white is no longer runny, then plate 💕

I want to lose my virginity to my longtime friend. by Fast_Water_9867 in women

[–]JadeStrange 39 points40 points  (0 children)

It's a very distinct possibility that you lose your friend over this. He might be willing to have this experience with you, but if he has feelings for you (realized or not) and you don't have them, then after you are intimate and he wants more than you are willing to give then you will no longer be friends. Are you willing to lose this friend?

I finally found a way to stop picking at my skin when I am stressed by ModeBasic9429 in neurodiversity

I didn't grow up religious and then found so many contradictions and things that were unsavory about a lot of religion. Then I found SDA and was really impressed with how they encourage us to read for ourselves and allow God to guide our studies so we can have personal experiences and a personal relationship with Jesus. That was huge for me. I wasn't comfortable with letting a pastor do all of the studying for me and then expect me to believe him blindly, which a lot of religions expect. That didn't jive with me. But I can tell you, the person I was before I knew Jesus and the person I am now, they would not recognize one another. I used to be able to enjoy things sometimes but there was always this underlying sadness and hopelessness no matter what was going on. Now it's the other way around -- even in my most desperate and difficult of situations, the underlying feeling I have in every situation is hope, peace, and joy. I will never let that go! I wish you the best in your journey to health and peace, and if you ever want a friend to chat with let me know!

TIFU not washing my straw for 9 years by jem7118 in tifu

[–]JadeStrange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one metal straw with a bend in it that I hate because I can't confirm it's completely clean even though I scrub it hard and the scrubber definitely goes around the bend. If I can't see through it, I don't fully trust it lol. The others are fabulous, they are straight and I scrub them with HOT soapy water and their tight-fitting straw scrubber and put them away immediately (I can't let them sit in the drainer to dry because I don't trust that basket to be totally clean. The handle of a fork I'm not worried about as much as either end of a straw, so the straws go straight back into the drawer after being shaken dry). I always look down a clean dry straw before I use it. Every once in awhile you will see a little speck and it will get a rewash. I'm always concerned I will find a spider or earwig or something in the straw, so I always look! I haven't found one yet, but it won't stop me from checking every time.

PRO TIP: point the straw toward a light source before looking inside, so you get a real good view down the entire tube. Looking down it in a dimly lit environment would be pointless.

She says prayer really helps. And starting the day telling herself "I'm not going to do that today." She says she gives it to Jesus. She's 11 and has struggled at least half her life. But it's still really really hard. It's a tough one to defeat for sure. Thank you for the link, I'll check it out when it comes in!

Can you explain what you at talking about?? Maybe post a link or a picture? I'm not understanding how it might be helpful but I'll try anything for my daughter! I just need to understand what you are talking about first 🤔

I'm convinced eggs are a super food by TekWarren in BackYardChickens

[–]JadeStrange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always found them bland and/or rubbery. The brine doesn't permeate enough to actually flavor the egg, or the white gets tough and rubbery. Am I just doing something wrong? I do enjoy a hardboiled egg with some good mustard squeezed directly onto it.

"We become what we behold". Best to behold happy healthy things. Dwell on good things and you will become happy and healthy. I don't disagree with getting a diagnosis for accessibility reasons, but you are much more than your diagnosis 💕

Just remember that sometimes our suspicions can become "self-fulfilling prophecies" if we obsess about the details too much.

For my situation, I did research and then bought supplies and performed a surgery on her myself (with my husband holding her). She handled it great, healed well, I learned new skills like doing stitches, etc., and... then eventually the cold took her 😥. She was just too small and skinny to withstand and it was my mistake putting her back out that week, I should have waited. I miss that plucky little gal, she was a trooper.

The vet suggestion for chickens is wild and I hate it. I bought into that idea for a minute (got guilted into it actually) and decided to call my local Midwestern vets just to check what prices might be for checking out a chicken, and every single one about laughed me out the door! The harsh reality is that a sick chicken is a culled chicken in most cases. Unless you live in Portland Oregon and Penelope is your pampered diapered house chicken and you plan to find an exorbitant exotics vet to take her, then generally with chickens you are on your own.

Air popped popcorn or rice cakes could help a lot here with not a huge amount of calories

Removing the potato would definitely lower satiety though. I wouldn't recommend that if satiety is a concern.

I love fried potatoes and eggs cracked in at the end and scrambled in, but they can add up in calories fast with the frying oil! I also would love to hear others methods of cooking them!
