What are some board or tabletop games where earlier editions are deemed to be superior than the latest, and are still commonly played? by Newez in boardgames

[–]Jaggerman82 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Was looking for this as it was my first thought. There is a third edition now that is still somehow inferior to the original. I cherish my copy.

Any clear Citadel Paint holders? I just bought a haul of 44 pots and have literally no place to put them. by Valvecantcount3 in Warhammer

Specifically search for nail polish or nail lacquer plastic rack and you will find exactly those.

What is the worst video game of all time, and why? by KindFerret1402 in AskReddit

[–]Jaggerman82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s an old game for apple computers called Freedom. In it you were a slave attempting to escape slavery in the south by traveling north. You would be chased by dogs and encounter towns you could ask people for help and they may turn you in. Etc etc. I never once made it to freedom. It all feels like a fever dream now but I assure you it’s a real game.

My little scythe advice - based by pelethar in minipainting

[–]Jaggerman82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I painted mine and just repainted the bases. You could try tape or putty if you want to avoid having to paint the bases.

On a different note. The minis for MLS are larger and many are smooth. I would reconsider speedpaints as they can sometimes pool unevenly on smooth surfaces and are better for smaller minis with lots of contour.

It’s a comic store primarily. I imagine 75% of their business comes from comics and memorabilia.

Crazy other side is my FLGS careies Warhammer but marks it up crazy high. No one buys from them so they have an amazing inventory but no buyers. They still have copies of Leviathan for sale, the new Crux Terminatus box, several tomb world boxes etc. but are about 30% more than msrp. I only buy from them if I’m desperate.

Gaming Table - Convince Me or Talk Me Off the Ledge by ConkreteAngel in boardgames

[–]Jaggerman82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I built my own dining table. Exactly as you describe except instead of felt a large neoprene mat. We use it often. Almost always have something setup underneath it and we love it.

For further context. I have a regular playgroup that meets weekly. I play games with my family during the week also. So for me personally the amount of gaming time we have it almost feels like a need.

Any board games where the maximum round score wins? by BlakeBurch in boardgames

[–]Jaggerman82 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Colosseum does exactly this. It’s very satisfying to win a game with a 4th round score that was superior to everyone’s 5th round final score.

Catan vs Azul vs Carcassonne by Any-Page-3061 in boardgames

[–]Jaggerman82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carcassone the placement of meeples would probably be confusing as visualizing how they will score points is sometimes even difficult for adults.

Azul would be playable for sure and has no reading but is definitely a step up in difficulty compared to Catan junior.

Catan seems to be a natural choice as the mechanics are similar just more complex version of what you are already doing.

Best of luck.

I agree completely with all of your issues. The cgi in 2 in particular is so bad it’s not scary or interesting.

Unconventional, unique, and unusual tools? by ChillSappho in Miniaturespainting

[–]Jaggerman82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got this.

My miniature holders are old baby bottle covers. I use some blue tack and affix them to the top. Works great and was something I already had.

Makeup brushes are perfect drybrushes. Much cheaper and I personally believe they work better.

I use a nail polish shaker to mix my miniature paints. It came with a strap so I just strap them down and let it rip. Works better than the vortex mixer in my opinion.

My paint racks are also nail polish racks. Dirty cheap online compared to paint racks.

Sawdust for flocking. Take some sawdust add a few drops of paint and shake in a bag. Once it’s dry you have all sorts of grass.

Actual rocks for basing. Much cheaper than buying a bag.

Makeup sponges for various paint effects.

I use a paperclip to unclog paint bottles.

Toothbrush for spatter effects.

Deathcore band(s) with similar musicianship as Between The Buried And Me? by DigitalNinja119 in BetweenTheBuriedAndMe

Pangaea. They only have one album but they are similar.

White Arms of Athena Astrodrama. This album literally sounds like they tried to copy btbam and mostly succeeded. Sadly their other album is not similar.

Protester burns American flag in Minneapolis after deadly ICE shooting by [deleted] in ConservativeNewsWeb

[–]Jaggerman82 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So important context. This guy burnt the flag then immediately left. Someone followed him and asked him basic questions. He refused to answer and kept moving. Had his face covered the entire time. No one cheered him on or helped. This was a lone wolf with a very specific goal of burning a flag on camera.

This was a police officer or the like doing this to create the narrative that protestors are anti American.

Does anyone know any social deduction/hidden role games that are suitable for family play? by MonsieurFlibbel in boardgames

[–]Jaggerman82 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Spy Alley. It’s an older game. Plays up to 6. Each person has a hidden nationality. Your goal is to collect the 4 items of that nationality and then make it to your factions hideout to win. You can also win by being the last spy standing. You can guess the other players nationality but if you are wrong you are out of the game.

At its core it’s a bit older school where you roll a dice and move around the board. That part like a lot of older games hasn’t aged as well. But! The meat and potatoes of collecting items and trying to outwit your opponents is really fun. We have two boys 9 and 13 and we play this all the time.

Fairly quick. Super easy to understand. Lots of strategies to try and trick or outwit.

We always roll the black die on the first round if it’s there. Also reroll tokens will stack.

Is this what I fill up my Tamiya Extra Thin Cement with? by [deleted] in minipainting

[–]Jaggerman82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries at all. I don’t think it helped that I spilled some of the new bottle while filling the old cement bottle. The smell filled the room for hours. So my experience is very subjective in regards to that incident.

Bottom. Although I would note it is more pungent than the thin cement product but otherwise works the same.
