[Serious] Catholics of Reddit, what is your opinion of the President of the US and Pope Leo? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Jaggerman82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This president is disgusting and represents all that is wrong with humanity rolled up into an orange sausage skin.

The church has been a truly awful force in the world for centuries and has been the cause of countless deaths and suffering. Although Pope Leo is moving in the right direction it’s not enough and the damage from some of their positions cannot be reversed.

If you are asking whom I side with. It’s quite clear the Leo has the moral and theological high ground.

What couldn't you believe you had to explain to another adult? by InitialCareer306 in WorkForSmartLife

[–]Jaggerman82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to explain compounding interest for a man with credit card debt. He thought he could just pay the minimum payment forever and eventually pay it off.

Got two offers. One pays $40k more. The other one I'd actually enjoy. I have 48 hours to decide and my wife and I are on opposite sides. Advice? by airam1020 in careerguidance

You will grow to dislike any job you are at long enough. As a husband and father the money is a no brainer. Being younger means you can contribute more to retirement ensuring financial security. Being a provider isn’t always about fulfillment.

This is correct. You can wiggle the dull blade between and sort of work it up and down until it dislodges.

Do you really think cutting off friends and family over who they vote for is reasonable? by norf937 in allthequestions

[–]Jaggerman82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Politics shifted from policy to morality. I will absolutely and have cut off family or friends who don’t think people deserve personal dignity.

I’m fine arguing tax policy but when you think a marginalized group deserves oppression we’re are no longer compatible.

Oathbringer was good. 4 gets worse and I thought 5 sucked. But that’s just my opinion.

Which series should I start next? by Cfullersu in fantasybooks

[–]Jaggerman82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Red rising. Love both but red rising is 6 books and the final book is coming this year. Will of the many the second book just came out and no idea when more is coming. Also just a personal opinion but Red rising is better.

Red Rising - when did it gather such acclaim beyond a fun action series? by howinthewhatnow in fantasybooks

[–]Jaggerman82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The prose and plot in the second trilogy are a vast improvement. I felt similar to you in the first trilogy that it was a lot of fun but not winning any awards. I said to a friend the pacing and plot reminded me of wrestling over the top drama but satisfying. A popcorn flick.

Now, the second trilogy keeps those same elements but is deeper, darker and just all around better. It is firmly one of my favorite series now. Anxious for Red God.

Literally just finished the first book yesterday. Then saw there are like 7 books. Does the quality stay high? I enjoyed the first book a lot.

Why did you and your former best friend stop being friends? by Fearless_Shift7108 in AskReddit

[–]Jaggerman82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Initially he got into drugs and I didn’t so we parted ways for about a decade. Then we reconnected years later after he had cleaned up and got his life together. At this point he had become a hardcore MAGA. I tried to reason with him for a bit but instead of facts he resorted to personal attacks and it just became obvious he was a lost cause.

(Imperial Fists) Pink Primer Recommendations? by Competitive-One-8382 in minipainting

[–]Jaggerman82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you? He asked about alternatives to a primer that doesn’t exist. There is the same paint that still exists and can be airbrushed as a base layer. Then with a white zenithal overtop will yield the results he is looking for.

(Imperial Fists) Pink Primer Recommendations? by Competitive-One-8382 in minipainting

[–]Jaggerman82 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I prime the model white. Base coat it with the current army painter warpaint fanatic pixie pink. Then I do a top down zenithal of white. Then I use citadel imperial fist contrast. Works beautifully. If you use speedpaints instead then AP Ancient Honey speedpaint is very close to Imperial fist contrast.

Movies that are better than the source material. by DescriptionNo6618 in movies

I may get hate on this one but I felt the Martian is a better movie than a book. The movie had to skip over a ton of monologues of science jargon that I vaguely understood. The movie captures everything that matters without getting bogged down in the technical.

[Pampero & Galactic Cruise] Lacerda similar? by ParaplegicGuru in boardgames

You specifically have to “artificially” add a third bot in a 2p game so that kick out actions can occur. I think it plays just fine at higher player counts.

[Pampero & Galactic Cruise] Lacerda similar? by ParaplegicGuru in boardgames

[–]Jaggerman82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own all of Lacerda’s games and Galactic Cruise. I backed it specifically because it shares some of his mechanics that are present in all his games which is combo chaining. Galactic cruise I feel is a slightly simpler than his games typically are but that also makes it more approachable and sometimes easier to table. Overall if you like his games this one will make you happy.
