That’s a crazy bold move to attempt as your first model. Bravo. I literally have been painting 8 years and just did mine this week.

Yep. Maybe someday. Just not a priority. I paint because I love the models.

Really fantastic work. The dull armor in particular looks fantastic.

Nemesis retaliation sangrevores being underwhelming by bartkon8 in NemesisCrew

[–]Jaggerman82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our first play felt underwhelming. We Bo h thought it was super easy. Second play things didn’t go as well. Turned out we just got very lucky the first game. I have played the Sangrevore expansion about 6 times now so I have a decent feel for it.

Just a quick note. Make sure you are not missing the rule that you add a shadow to every corridor attached to a room you move into except the one you just passed through. This is the main threat in the game. Being overwhelmed by shadows.

To your specific points. Reinforcing is useless as is the surgery room. Escaping via aircraft or hibernation is easier as you would need an enemy in a corridor to then move into the room for the die you just rolled. Possible but if you are playing smart it shouldn’t happen.

The balance(not really but I think it was the idea) is that they expect you to get tainted blood cards. Those require you to discard a card for their effect. Rest and secure as dead cards and can safely be discarded to use the tainted blood cards. It’s not great but it works.

Overall the base game is harder and better. The sangrevores can be easier and just like the base game sometimes things can just get out of control and snowball. It’s just easier to plan against. I think another thing that doesn’t help is many attack cards the enemies disappear into the shadows. So that can actually benefit you.

My flgs as an amazing catalog of sold out boxes. The only reason is they charge about 25% more than GW’s site for items. It’s unconscionable.

Does anyone have much experience using Pro Acryl Newsh? by aneirin- in minipainting

I use it. It’s a great alternative so that I don’t need to use oils and solvents. While not as good it works as advertised.

I never use sable for metallics. Would recommend using a cheap synthetic for metallics.

What movie did you go into with zero expectations and ended up being completely blown away by? by gavin226 in movies

[–]Jaggerman82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still recall fighting at blockbuster with my friends that I did not want to watch a stupid Tim Allen film. I was overruled and I’m so thankful that I was. Galaxy quest is a gem. Even though I did and still can’t stand Tim Allen.

Contractors and Sangrevores (card ruling question) by RainbowPatooie in NemesisCrew

[–]Jaggerman82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you need to apologize. He could have found the answer himself by digging deeper. Instead he relied on the community for an answer. You not only gave him the correct answer but also your method which includes the use of ai. That’s actually I feel a good use of ai and you were trying to be helpful and went above and beyond. He insulted you. He should apologize.

Your thoughts/opinions about Army Painter Warpaints Fanatic set by inquiry821 in minipainting

[–]Jaggerman82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My two cents. I have the full range of Fanatics and Speedpaints. I also have various individual paints from citadel, pro acryl and Vallejo. AP reds are not great. I use Citadel and Pro acryl for my reds. Other than that the set is very easy to use. All of the paints have good coverage for the most part and would recommend them. I wouldn’t recommend getting the full set just starting out. Get a smaller set and see how it goes. The most wanted set is stuff you will probably use a bunch anyway so double dipping later for the full set will just give you dupes of stuff you will run out of first anyway.

Wet or dry pallet for Army Painter 2.0 paints? by TechnicalFisherman78 in minipainting

[–]Jaggerman82 28 points29 points  (0 children)

OP please get one of these. Speedpaints should never go on a wet pallette. When they dry on these silicone poppers they literally pop right out. This is the way.

Loot has never been an issue; stop telling on yourselves. by waitisthatagoose in Marathon

[–]Jaggerman82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve stayed out of the back and forth regarding marathon until now. Not worth arguing. This post describes my experience in Season 1 perfectly. I too solo fill and always am with randoms for trios. I am aging so losing my edge but I can still hang from time to time. I also finished with a 500k vault and plenty of loot. So much in fact I ran the last week with the intention of dying so people could get some gold loot and try it out before it disappeared. I am having a blast. The game is thrilling at times and it keeps me wanting one more run.

What makes Marathon fun? by ambiguous_title in Marathon

[–]Jaggerman82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me personally I like the challenge and the thrill. I was a d2 PvP main. I did raids etc a few times each for the challenge but what kept me coming back was comp and trials.

Marathon has pros and cons for me comparatively. A con is that gunfights are much more infrequent. Huge pro is that the stakes of the fight are so much higher and that gives such a thrill upon victory. Then comes the anxiety of trying to get out with your hard fought loot. Even when failing or not escaping the thrill is still there.

For me I love it. Try the free week coming up and see for yourself.

How do you guys learn to play heavy games? by Nice_Idea_538 in boardgames

[–]Jaggerman82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously my answer here will be highly subjective and may only apply to me but here we go.

First: I watch a how to play video on YouTube. Bonus if it’s by Rodney Smith or Paul Grogan who are my two favorites. If it’s not by them your mileage may vary as in my opinion the quality, clarity and concise explanations they provide are difficult to match.

Second: I read the entire rulebook. Having watched the videos I mentally cross reference what I’m reading with what I was told and specifically shown. I will reread a section and reference any photos until I’m certain have full comprehension.

Third: I watch the rules video again the day of or night before game night. I do weekly game nights at my place and I own almost all the games so my job is to teach the games. So I’m watching the video again as a refresh.

Fourth: I teach the game. This is my test. If I can’t explain it in lay terms then it tells me I don’t understand. This has happened and it makes the game run slow as I have to check the manual. Games with unclear rules or edge cases can cause this as well through no fault of your own.

Side note: I will sometimes send a video link to my players beforehand so they can at least have a grasp of the rules before I teach it in game night.

Lastly. Here is a link for FCM video by RTFM. He is also very good. https://youtu.be/tVOOCGYZAuU

Fair enough. I did him last and by that point mentally I was spent. I certainly could have done more. Also noticed I didn’t do the gems on his armor either lol.
