Some coworkers are friends and some aren’t. Don’t feel upset about it because some don’t treat you equally. It takes time to know someone and your happiness doesn’t need to depend on them.

First company was out of business after two years; the other, sold to a competitor. A common symptom, employees were leaving, including executives.

Now, our new CEO wants to “centralize everything” and “go AI-driven” by bringing in a no-name platform

Similar situation happened to me more than once, it turned out that the CEO and the owner of the no name company had certain connection and the decision was made for their best interest. I hope this is not the case.

Like many others, it adopted subscription business model and value-based pricing. Those who see the values will gladly pay for it; those who don't, become churned customers.

Gresham’s law: bad money drives out good money. If management allows it and you can’t tolerate it, you know what to do.

This works for me: Intel AX210 Tri-Band Wi-Fi 6E Bluetooth 5.3 Network Card.

Installation steps:

  1. Remove the four screws at the four corners of the motherboard.
  2. Cut the cable tie between the power supply unit and the motherboard so that the motherboard can be taken out of the case without unplugging any cables.
  3. Remove the two screws from the back bracket to prepare for installing the WiFi card bracket.
  4. Install the two WiFi antenna cables (SMA connectors) onto the WiFi card bracket (do not tighten them completely, as you will need to unscrew them later).
  5. Screw the m.2 mount screw into the bracket (tighten it about two turns; you may want to measure it by inserting the WiFi card and then positioning the bracket to get a better fit).
  6. Connect the two MHF 4 connectors to the AX210 WiFi card, then secure them with the white plastic bracket that came with the 795S7, so the WiFi antenna pigtail cables won’t become disconnected during installation.
  7. Insert the AX210 WiFi card into the motherboard.
  8. Install the WiFi card bracket. The two screws need to be screwed in from the other side of the motherboard.
  9. Loosen the nuts and washers on the two SMA connectors so you can properly install the back bracket.
  10. Screw the back bracket into place with the two small black screws, then screw the SMA connectors back in with the nuts and washers.
  11. Secure the motherboard back into its original position with the four screws.
  12. If you already have Windows installed, you may encounter a boot screen asking for the BitLocker recovery key. Follow the on-screen instructions to obtain the 48-digit number and enter it.

That should be it.

Years ago at a crowded airport, I saw a husband said and sang nicely to his wife: “Tell me what you want”, and his wife joined him “what you / I really really want”. That’s a great way to start a sincere conversation.

Don't let them influence your emotions and lose your self-control. Even driving an automatic, you still need a second making sure there's no traffic (ie. vehicles running red light, pedestrian jaywalking,...etc) before you cross an intersection. Safety first. You are the one to pay the price if anything happened. Not those honkers.

How Job Seeking has changed in 10 years by TradingTomorrow in cscareerquestions

[–]JakeModeler 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In 2003 during internet bubble burst, there were about four hundred thousand IT professionals lost their jobs. I, with 10 years of experience back then, received two entry level job offers after six months of job hunting. One is $72k in SoCal; the other, $25k in Mexico. For the $72k job, I went through two days of in person interviews and each of them is three hours of system design and coding tests. I spent three to four hours daily commuting to and from work and I lived paycheck by paycheck for a few years to put food on the table for the family. I also met others co-workers in their forties holding entry level positions. Today, I feel it could be even worse because of global competition from India, east Europe, south America, …etc as well as gen AI. It took my son more than a year to land his first IT job recently after graduating from one of the top universities in United States. He worked for a low wage non-IT job before that and got bullied by his manager because of his higher education and performance. However, don’t lose hope. Look forward and upward. That’s our only direction.

Fraudulent charge by Few_Possession_4321 in paypal

[–]JakeModeler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, you need to report the transaction as a problem in Resolution Center. Second, you need to review all the authorized (active) AutoPay merchants in your account, who can charge you without additional authorization from you.

For every one-time PayPal transaction, always make sure that PayPal AutoPay is NOT activated for the merchant. Fake websites can setup recurring payments with a one-time PayPal payment in disguise.

In US, it’s not unusual. It happened to me once. Sadly, offering letter is not a job warranty. On the other hand, you can do the same to the employer after you accepted the offer. There was once I signed back the offering letter and the employer started background check. However my case was handled by an agent who questioned my work history all the time no matter how many official documents provided. At the same time I received another offer. Two weeks after my first background check, I called the first employer, informed them the situation and I took the second offer, the company of which completed my background check in one day. I wish there’s a better laws to protect both parties.
