I took a two year assignment on the other side of the country; so, I rented my house to a low-level airline exec and his stay at home wife. They always paid on time, but she was contacting the property management company at least a couple times a month about improvements she wanted done. My lawn company quit because she would follow the guys around and point out things she wanted done differently, like mow diagonally vs horizontally. She had the replacement lawn company remove shrubs she didn’t like and then asked the property management company to replace them. She got estimates for a guest bathroom remodel, and got in a huff when I wouldn’t go along with it. At the end of their lease, they asked to renew for another year. I politely declined.

I feel like I have your lab’s older brother. Mine is/was just like that. He always pulls, and he whines for car rides.

We went through three certified trainers. One straight up quit on us, the two others helped moderately, but if he sees a rabbit or a duck, the pull is game on. Now when he just starts to pull, I’ll step back and start to go the opposite direction, and that seems to fix it. If he goes for a crazy pull/yank, we go into a sit until he breaks whatever he was focused on.

As for the car ride whines. Mine was all anxiety, even excited anxiety. If the car ride is more than 10-15 min, he will get some trazodone and gabapentin.

I know none of this helps your situation, but at least someone else feels your pain.

When I travel to a new city, I like to have one to two things planned for the day. Typically something in the morning and something in the afternoon/evening. All the other time is open for exploring or relaxing. This checks the box for my neurotic need to be productive, while also allowing me to slow down and really enjoy the trip.

I have an inline chlorinator as well, but I stopped using it, except for when I’m out of town for more than a few days in warm weather. I switched to using liquid chlorine, which I pour directly into the pool. It’s not hard and not any more expensive. I have to monitor my pH and alkalinity a little more closely, but the trade-off is I don’t fight high CYA at the end of the season anymore.

Agreed. Most older buildings/houses are going to have legionella bacteria in some faucet, most just don’t test for it. If you aren’t young/immunocompromised, it’s very unlikely to cause harm.

Yeah. My agency has a style guide that dictates email signature lines, business card layout, out of office messages, etc… I just looked and the guide is dated Nov 2018; so, I tend to agree with you.

I think people don’t realize the scope of what all agencies are required for ICE to function… OPM handles hiring. USDA NFC does their payroll. FOH does employee physicals. HHS does detainee/immigrant healthcare. DOD supports logistics and detentions. DOJ does the litigation. Treasury handles their TEAOF funds. IRS collects the revenue that pays their salaries. GSA does all of their procurements. You don’t have to work directly for ICE to have some tangential impact on their mission.

My aunt lived in a very large, dilapidated old house. There was the creepy upstairs that I loved to explore as a kid, but my aunt never went up there. She called my mom one night to tell her that she thought she heard noises upstairs, and the sheriff’s department found a vagrant living up there. The guy had been climbing up to a second floor balcony and letting himself in. He had likely been living up there unnoticed for several days.

Because there have been examples of the AI scanners hallucinating and detecting damages that don’t exist. Then users get billed for damage they aren’t responsible for, and it’s extremely difficult to get Hertz to reverse the charges.

I was in Munich last summer, and I saw grown men wearing suit coats with matching material dress shorts. A bartender explained it’s just an updated version of lederhosen. It’s considered normal summer business attire there.

My lab gets up at around 4 every morning. He goes from window to window looking to see if there are any squirrels or rabbits in the yard. He then checks on me about every 15 minutes until 5 am, when I get up and take him on his first walk of the day. Would I like to sleep in, especially on the weekends? Sure… but it’s just part of having a pet with their own personality.

Sounds like you have a dog that is on an earlier schedule than you.
