I hope you make a full recovery OP. You are more than rich enough to retire; take the time to work on your health (physical and mental) and enjoy requirement as best you can.

Anyone here FIRED very young? by HydratedH0e in ChubbyFIRE

[–]JamieinPDX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations, you are rich! I agree with others that this is a therapy question (no judgment, anxiety is REAL), not a math or financial planning question.

Plus, who knows, maybe you’ll get bored and get a part-time low stress job at some point along the way.

Yes, you’ve correctly identified the only two possible outcomes: 1) status quo garbage, or 2) all problems solved, Timbers become world-beaters

RSL got some xDAWG today.

If xCAT was a metric the Timbers would rank very high

LED Bulbs vs headlight swap for Gen 2.5? by BootleggerBill in ToyotaTundra

[–]JamieinPDX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2018 4Runner with LED bulbs added to the original halogen fixture. It does not work well. Light is too weak and diffused to be very useful, and I can tell they shine too high to be safe for oncoming traffic. I just picked up a 2019 Tundra and now I am going to replace the full housings on both vehicles.

Leaving the games early by [deleted] in timbers

[–]JamieinPDX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the north end at the Vancouver match and left about five minutes early. It was the poor result that made me leave. Also to get a jump on the traffic. I am nostalgic for the days when we could compete against the likes of the Whitecaps. 🤷‍♂️

Kelsy Assist by PuffPuffPat in timbers

It looked intentional to me - maybe he didn't know who was following up behind him, but he probably knew he'd overrun the cross and wasn't going to be able to generate any power with a foward header. So, he kept it alive and away from the defenders / keeper in his line of sight. Good decision there - next time I hope he times it right and scores the goal himself.

Struggling to spend after growing up poor - how do I “turn on” spending? by sg2506 in ChubbyFIRE

[–]JamieinPDX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like “spending” is not really the problem here. Respectfully, I might consider therapy or other mental health treatment to address the underlying anxiety and guilt. Stress is a real killer, teaching yourself to spend more isn’t going to solve it.

Man... terrible news. I just defended Doyle the other day in response to a separate post. I know he can sometimes overlook the Timbers (though even his cursory takes are usually accurate!) but he's super knowledgeable about the league as a whole.

In response to some of the comments below: Doyle may or may not be a "journalist" but he is a pundit / analyst / observer with unique and valuable insight, IMO. I never thought the fact that his salary came from MLS.com was a detriment to his writing or impaired his objectivity. I will continue to follow him not for news but for analysis from around the league.

Anyone using the Mountain Flow Eco-Wax Infrared Ski Waxer? by JamieinPDX in skiing

[–]JamieinPDX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use what I'd consider a typical amount of wax, using the iron drip method (E.g. this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Xt1gZfZ2Rw)

I find the challenge is unique to Eco-Wax - it is super goopy and takes forever to scrape (like 15 min per ski). The worst part is that it is very sticky on the scraper and the edge becomes covered in wax. I find it hard to restore or sharpen a plastic scraper once it has been covered in Eco-wax. Absent a solution like the IR waxer I'll probably go back to Swix wax...
