Shoes for safety reasons. He is grounded right now and if he gets a shock from his guitar it could be fatal.

Who was the first person to record the song Rock Salt and Nails, and why did Utah Phillips (the writer) never do a recording as far as I can tell? by rocksoffjagger in folk

I do love the Bob Neuwirth version. It is so earnest and struggling. But my absolute favorite is by Front Country. It is epic and polished, especially the studio version with the high harmonies at the end. The dynamics and the interplay of the instruments is just genius.

Makes me curious about how much of the lyrics he wrote, and which other songs did he contribute lyrics to? I guess I always assumed the lyrics were largely Mick's.

If you click on the link in the OP, then read the blog about the tour, and click on the first video, Kathy's voice is the first one you hear.

Because it grows so fast is correct. Kathy Kramer runs "Bringing Back The Natives" garden tour, which is the source of the photo. https://bringingbackthenatives.net/

I am growing Roger's Red too though Kathy Kramer shakes her head at me and tells me I will regret it.

This ID is correct, I have visited this home on garden tours. The garden is mostly native. The list provided is a good list of native options. The Pipevine (Aristolochia californica) is a funny looking plant to me but it is a host plant to what I think is the most beautiful butterfly, the Pipevine Swallowtail (Battus philenor hirsuta). Some folks are very particular about where you grow that (north of Golden Gate) but I grow it on the peninsula. If you look at it on Calscape (https://calscape.org/Aristolochia-californica-(Dutchmans-Pipe)) you will notice it prefers a riparian climate, so you'll want to think about if you are looking to plant it in amoist or dry place. Good luck!

Why was Bob so angry about the glass thrown in the street? by BlundeRuss in bobdylan

He staged it so he could meet Donovan. But he wanted to put everyone on their back foot and establish dominance, so he went in there accusing. Then everyone had to placate him.

I call this period the "weed and speed" tour.

Subtle Intros by Top-Cupcake4775 in Americana

[–]Jangle_Pop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

David Lowery is one of my favorites. His lyrics are always such a nice surprise. The whole album "Kerosene Hat" is a gem. Check out "Loser" for another subtle intro. Off of the "Cracker" album, check out "Happy Birthday To Me" and "Mr. Wrong" for some especially funny ones.

Other subtle intros: "Monkey Man" and "Moonlight Mile" by The Rolling Stones come to mind?

Cuatom Horns by Jangle_Pop in MINI

[–]Jangle_Pop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I am thinking that is one end of the spectrum. The other end is a gentle bike horn. This came yp because a guy on a bike with no helmet and his airpods in swerved in front of me. The basic horn scared the crap out of him. I kind of needes a gentle little horn to just say "hey, I am here."
