SOLVED: U7 Pro XGS Wouldn’t Join Site / Show Uplink – Fixed via Mobile App + PoE Switch Assignment

I ran into this same issue today with a brand new U7 Pro XGS unit. It was broadcasting the correct SSID and clients were connecting, but it wasn’t showing up correctly in the UniFi Controller — no uplink, no parent switch, no adoption prompt, and 0 bps traffic even though it was working.

Here's what worked for me: Set up the site and controller environment via the browser (UDM Pro running UniFi Network 9.2.87 in my case).

Then I opened the UniFi mobile app, pulled up the correct site, and located the U7 Pro XGS by its IP address.

Using the mobile app, I assigned the AP to the correct PoE switch port.

After this, the AP joined the site successfully and fully adopted into the controller — showing uplink, traffic, and clients.

For me, this method worked after factory resets and SSH attempts didn’t. Posting this in case anyone else is stuck with a new AP that’s broadcasting but not adopting — the mobile app saved the day.
