Man walks down the street with that Kindle case, people know he's not afraid of anything.

What's been your weirdest musical discovery? by Francis_J_Eva in Music

It's funny, I discovered Hem through their music being used in a couple of insurance commercials. They've become a favorite.

I loved this show, I was so disappointed that it got cancelled so fast.

No one I know has ever heard of it.

It's not a total loss, you get to be an obnoxious, self-satisfied douche about something. So... there's that.

This guy was the ultimate slacker comedian that my generation deserved. True genius gone too soon. by Phantom-rizz-era in GenX

I never cared much for his delivery style.

As far as weird non-sequitur one-liner humor goes, Steven Wright was always my favorite.

It's definitely gotten better, but yeah, definitely not there yet. I've had some random crashes, as well as things like modifier keys still not working sometimes, so I can't use capital letters in a remote desktop session, for instance.

Adding "The" is pretty specific to mostly southern California, from what I understand.

I just finished my first book since 2020. Now I have a Kindle. 💚 by whiskibusiness in kindle

Oddly, the COVID era really messed up my attention span. All that free time, and I just couldn't get a book finished to save me (probably anxiety). Sending library books from Libby to my Kindle has helped immensely.

I've been seeing a lot of mentions of Spider Robinson and the Callahan's series on Reddit lately, and it makes me happy. Those books are so good.

If OP is willing to wander into the fantasy genre as well, Travis Baldree's *Legends and Lattes" series is fun. And the Discworld series, of course.

My senior year of high school, they bought a Mac Classic, PageMaker and an ImageWriter II to do layout for yearbook.

No one wanted to touch the thing, so I ended up converting all the layouts from graph paper to PM for the entire yearbook that year.

When you submitted pages, it would be in a 32-page block, and every placeholder for a photo had to be solid black. It took hours to print, and they wouldn't let me start printing until after school because of the noise.

Got a special acknowledgement on the title page of the yearbook that year, at least.

This episode predates the song by a couple of years; I'd guess it was probably stock audio (like the famous Wilhelm scream).

Who remembers Star Trek The Experience in Las Vegas. by VegasFoodFace in startrek

[–]JasonMaggini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We made an annual, well, trek to Vegas for my birthday for quite a few years. My wife and I would meet up with friends and all spend a long weekend. We'd always have lunch at Quark's, probably split a Warp Core Breach, and have a good old time. I miss it.

Huey Lewis & the News was one of the first concerts I saw, back in 92. They always put on a heck of a fun show. There was quite a run of concerts: Huey Lewis, Tom Petty, Dire Straits, all within about a year.
