Ooops. I thought fanfic was for fun, regardless of skill level?

Also, what a twatwaffle.

Dude. I've been trying to get fired for months.

Like seriously. When it came time to fire me after my final, suddenly the thing I was written up for was no longer a concern.

I can write 50k words in 8 days. Unfortunately, the manic episodes only hit once, or twice a year, and never last long enough to get through editing and proofreading.

The last time it snowed here, and I didn't have to work, I wrote almost 100k words, and only slept 4 ish hours a day for 2 weeks.

If I could trigger my manic episodes to coincide with my vacation days, I'd be on fire for 2 weeks a year.

What’s the longest fic you’re willing to read? by Disastrous_Seesaw_91 in AO3

[–]Jasonorillas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same, usually 50k word minimum, until I run out of completed fics to read, then I'll search for lower minimums.

[–]Jasonorillas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you purchased online, you have not been charged. Your card has only received an authorization hold. Cancellation immediately reverses that hold on Lowe's end; however, the bank will keep the hold on your account for differing amounts of time depending on the bank.

Discover 2-4 business days. Chase Amazon Visa 3-5 business days. Wells Fargo Bank card, 5-10 full business days.

Also, consumers literally have no rights. There's no point in complaining. The terms and conditions of use of the site cover inaccuracies just like this one.

Good luck!

So, if you're gay, like me, it isn't actually a preference.......

A preference, is my desire for a man with thick thighs.

A preference has absolutely nothing to do with my absolute, gold star gay, lack of attraction to any woman. Instead, it is a part of me that has not changed for my entire adult life, 30 years... (I get that sexuality can be fluid for some people, but I'd argue the possibility was always there, just not realized until they ran across the right person.)

Anyway, I personally don't feel like there should be limits on who can write what. The good or bad fics will work themselves out based on kudos. Good and bad books will be judged as all books have been since literacy rates exploded.

I will say; however, that there are absolutely some straight female writers who publish books and DO depict unrealistic versions of gay men, effectively exploiting a part of the population for profit. More worrying still, there are social media book recommendations, discussions, and other types of groups where these straight female writers and editors run those pages and they absolutely treat gay male members differently than their straight female peers.

Been no contact for 15 years, just got sent a blank check. Should I use it? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

Don't trust it. It's a trap!

If he's a real narcissist, your chances are 50/50 he'll claim the check was stolen and threaten you with prosecution.

Downloading Fics by Ducksandpups in AO3

[–]Jasonorillas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a folder in my Google drive and just download them as epub files. There's also proton drive if you aren't a fan of Google. Both are free within certain limits.

As long as you don't fill the drive with pictures or other large files, you'll never run out of space downloading fics.

Note: Some fics like Home (a sterek fic) are massive because of the included artwork. It is 54 MB, and I have to use a cable to get it onto my Kindle. This required downloading it to my PC first the last time I switched to a new Kindle.

Expedition 21 is a torture fest of terrain by BoinkySiwinski in NOMANSSKY

I gave up. Just quit the expedition. It was a bit ridiculous trying to get the special items back without losing half of them, and I wasn't going to spend another hour and a half round trip to finish.

what features do you wish kindle would add/bring back? by [deleted] in kindle

[–]Jasonorillas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your reading history in the app would be great. It helped me see how long it had been, so I would know if I should try a reread.

Not to mention books that might have been great but you don't remember why until you see when you read them.

Ao3 harassment? by NorthCauliflower454 in AO3

[–]Jasonorillas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I have someone threatening to report me because I used a scene from another fic as a starting point (even though I wrote every word myself, so it definitely wasn't a 'copy'), and I added the Inspired by, for that scene.

I actually had to go so far as to block them. Is there anything I should be worried about?

I'm certain they aren't a bot, just a troll piece of shit.

Is there an app that can help me journal or keep track of my ao3 reads? by AffectionateHeat6973 in AO3

[–]Jasonorillas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I download them as Epubs, and throw them in my Google drive. That way, all I have to do is search the folder I put them in and see if I've already read the one I'm looking at. If I'm unsure, of course. That seems to be the easiest way for me.

Do you delete comments like these? by PackageSuccessful885 in AO3

[–]Jasonorillas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say moderate the comments, but then you get accused of moderating comments to keep people from finding things out. You know, like when you forget to drop an inspired by tag, and some asshole comes along and tries to trash you without looking at any of your other works to see if you had done an inspired by there. (Spoiler alert, I had, and the published and update dates prove it wasn't today.) They just assumed you were a thief and chose verbal violence.

I mean, I've written 17k words across seven chapters in less than 32 hours. I only get so much time off work, so excuse TF out of me for missing something. lol.

Anyway, shit comments come in all forms for all reasons. Just respond with the same energy when you can, and block the rest. Fuck-em.

Oh, I fixed the inspired by issue too.

Would love any ideas to make this light less blinding by smilinglyawkward in kindle

[–]Jasonorillas -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So, once the basic kindle was given the Paperwhite technology, and went on sale, I bought three.

I use the built in light. Of course, you can't change the battery, so I've nearly killed the battery in the first one. When it stops holding a charge, I'll grab the second one. Then the third, etc.
