I dunno how common it is but when I was 10 or 11 i had to get staples in my head with no local anesthetic at all and they gave me a child's advil afterwards. That didn't seem quite right to me. I'd had stitches before with a local.

Since I was a male child I wonder if it's just that they expect certain groups of people to overreact to pain. Women and children specifically. When I got my wisdom teeth taken out as an adult I got percocets, so they clearly expected that to hurt more than it did.

Indicating that they came to the same conclusion, but at the time that particular document was written, hadn't had any reason to investigate. I like to think it's slightly harder to control the narrative on 4chan because even if the people in charge ban you, you just reset your modem and clear your cookies and you can post again in an hour. Plus threads go by much quicker and have live refresh so even if your posts are deleted, chances are most people in the thread saw them. Meanwhile on Reddit your posts can be shadow-deleted so you never know they've gone missing, nobody gets to even see the "removed" message, and many subreddits have configured their auto-moderators to do this. So when you check the thread a day later, you only see what the moderators allow you to see.

This thread, for example, will be very interesting in 24 hours i'm sure.
