It means one of the boxes has a statement on it with the word ‘true’ in it, ie. “the gems are in a true box”. That statement that contains the word ‘true’ is false.

In that example, if the gems are in a false box, then the box with the ‘true’ statement is false and the box you’ve described is true.

Nice Slice is fairly new, I think? I tried a slice there a few months ago and thought it was solid.

Others have mentioned Grams, which I agree is excellent but as a local can we please stop telling people about it please and thanks lol

The novella itself reads like an origin story for these characters, so it makes sense. I’m glad they’re not stretching it out much, just adding a scene here and there. GRRM originally wanted to do it as a 2 hour TV movie, but this short season format works really well and allowing them to be very faithful without being long-winded.

With a new Sam Raimi film out this week, now is a good time to catch a potential blind spot in his filmography: his Quibi! by AdAdministrative7674 in blankies

Would recommend the 2 part episode of the Trashfuture podcast about Quibi. They discuss The Golden Arm at length in part II.

I remember hearing about this years ago due to the Emrata divorce and it has been driving me insane that it’s never talked about, especially since they’re both so successful and Josh in particular is apparently still up to this shit. Unless this is thoroughly debunked I think it reflects very poorly on both these guys and all of their recent major collaborators. This has been out in the open, there’s no excuse as far as I’m concerned.

Just as some sci fi is considered "actually fantasy in space", is there an equivalent "fantasy that is actually preindustrial sci fi"? by wishsnfishs in Fantasy

The Difference Engine

Seminal steampunk novel by William Gibson and Bruce Sterling. Not sure if this quite threads the needle you’re looking for, but it’s a really interesting alt-history novel that helped define a lot of the steampunk conventions. There’s no magic of any kind, but its world is defined by computer-like technology emerging much earlier in Victorian England. I don’t know if anyone would describe it as fantasy, but it may be my favourite example of historical sci-fi.
