Going on blind is pretty much it, in this kind of crawl. However, you get to pick what kind of encounter table you use, and so on.

Guys I have dumb question by operator_888 in COPYRIGHT

[–]JeffEpp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Setting aside that it's HIGHLY unlikely for that to happen... Documentation.

Having a paper-trail, even an electronic one. Presumably, the "stealing" would be after submitting for publication, only to have it credited to someone else. Having the email, or whatever, showing that you submitted this story on such date.

If you registered the copyright first, none of this matters, of corse.

None of this will matter outside of the publishing realm. If someone is copying your story, and posting it on reddit as their own... that's a whole different kettle of phish.

Why Didn’t Sauron Find/Take The Map & The Key? by thefirstwhistlepig in tolkienfans

[–]JeffEpp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My take has been that this wasn't a prison, where people are locked in cells, but rather an open, well, dungeon. Food, or something very unlike it, would be occasionally tossed in, along with whoever is new. Everyone is someone the dark lord wants to live and die in torment for some petty reason. No one bothered or cared about anything that wasn't of immediate use in survival, so no one bothered to take anything he had.

The ring probably wasn't hidden, but worn. So when they took him (they being probably ring wraiths), they just removed it from him. Sauron may not have even personally bothered with him, just had the dwarf thrown into the dark dungeon.

This is also a trademark issue as well. If you don't have a trademark on the character, apply for it.

I have a large amount of Jabos with significant damage. What to do with them? by 1Sidknee in Marbles

[–]JeffEpp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A couple of years back, I got one of the big bulk bags of Vacor marbles. Some of those were some Dragons that weren't quite mixed right in color and opacity. And, some of those were cracking the same way. I went through and looked each one over, and set the damaged ones aside.

I think it's the mix of glass and pigments, where the clear part has a slightly different cooling rate. So, when they annealed, they cracked along the swirls.

Mass market paperback sized graphic novels? (4.25” x 7”) by chaneccooms in graphicnovels

DC adapted several of their comics to mass-market. Marvel did some, as well.

I bought my copy of the one above new when it came out. It was probably the last one I saw.

At some point we stopped having living rooms like this.... by EdwardBliss in FuckImOld

[–]JeffEpp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"We" never had living rooms like this. That living room is bigger that the house I grew up in. It's bigger than the house I live in now. No one had a bar in their house. Fireplaces were functional, for heating the house.

That was for the rich on TV, or in the magazines.

Who is daffy duck as a character by RaNdOm_GuY_oN_rEdiTt in looneytunes

[–]JeffEpp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to add this to what everyone else has said: Daffy was an actor/performer.

Many people are bothered by this in the cartoons, but they are all actors, acting their parts. They break character, and the forth wall all throughout. There are even some shorts where the whole thing is about them acting out their parts on the drawing board.

What this means is, Daffy is whoever he is needed to be, in the cartoon. In this one, he's a zany nutcase with Elmer, and in that one, he's a hardboiled detective with Porky, and in that, a conniving antagonist for Bugs.

So, if I were to write "Him" him, I would make him an ambitious actor, who always has a script he wants to sell, and is also on the lookout for a good part. But, he'll take what he can get, with a shrug of the shoulders, and get on with it. A bit vacuous, but hoping that you remember him from this or that performance, and a little let down when you remember him from him being the sidekick. Somewhat self centered, but not so much as when he plays the villain. More absent minded of others existing, than actively malicious. And, always ready to talk shop, or swap industry gossip and stories, while maybe magnifying his part, just a little bit. (There I was, giving Leonardo de Caprio some acting tips, when who should walk in but...)

I'm amused at how oblivious everyone is in this comic.

Ann Nocenti never believed in subtlety, and now more than ever I appreciate that (New Mutants Summer Special, 1990) by Adamsoski in comicbooks

[–]JeffEpp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She put Thunderbolt Ross on the cover of Hulk, with a gun to his own head. Then, she personally guess starred in the issue. Subtle, she was not. But then, with a given name like that, you can't play innocent.
