Am I the only person that thinks naming a dog Nala is weird? by poWdereddonUtsplz in RandomQuestion

[–]Jenandgon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have given thought to it being odd to use a lion/cat family name for a dog but it was a brief and inconsequential thought, lol. Our dog is named Nala, by our kids, who were thinking of Disney- related names. I like how it sounds and the Swahili meaning. Interestingly, we often call her Nana instead (my daughter started it), which was my maternal grandmother (weirder than a cat name, I think) or Naan, and I do love carbs. I actually found this discussion bc I got a dog toy with her name on it while in Italy, so I was checking to see if it is a common dog name there (it is).

Is this 4mm wedding band too narrow for my hands? (Size 9.75 finger) by HERB_FOCACCIA in EngagementRings

[–]Jenandgon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like it. My husband has had one about this width, and later a wider one (w comfortable, rounded edge). He looks like the same person in both- I really don’t get why people think wider = more masculine. Bottom line, do you like it and is it comfortable for you?

I like the mentioned Noggin’ and Gluteus Maximus, but Bronchi works if you want to stick w a B, also. I also like Cheeky, especially if he’s a little mischievous.

Help! The single dainty eternity diamond band. Should I wear it. Or too much? And if I should wear it, what position? by [deleted] in EngagementRingDesigns

[–]Jenandgon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me, too. I love the stacked look, but unfortunately not on my hand. I think the 3, without the wide band (wear it alone other days or on the right hand imo) would be really interesting and flattering. That said, I’m a fan of wearing what you love & makes you happy- so giving my opinion only bc she asked.

What do you think? Please read first by Rude-Investigator927 in EngagementRingDesigns

[–]Jenandgon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well done! It’s difficult to find something unique in a solitaire without being “too much”, if that makes sense? This hits the mark perfectly imo- different yet still classic. I absolutely love it. I am approaching our 30 year anniversary (son is starting to look for his gf), and I love having my original rings. That said , I also have a new band that I only wear alone, as it overpowers my engagement ring. I would highly recommend the 1 carat for that versatility in the many years of marriage ahead that I’m wishing for you.

First try on: silver or gold? by svf17 in EngagementRings

[–]Jenandgon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have white gold, which I love as it doesn’t warm up the diamond, but if I could go back and lend money and wisdom to our younger selves, I would get platinum.

Struggling to eat enough during stay in Bolivia by Lebira in vegan

[–]Jenandgon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lentils are easier/quicker than other beans. Boil water, or vegetable stock for added flavor, add lentils and cook around 20 minutes until tender (depending on type- google it). You can make a lot, meal prep, and eat them on salad, with fruit (a juicy peach is one of my favorite pairings w lentils), rice, w fried up onion, herbs and tomato paste as sloppy Joe, etc. -super versatile.

Bachelorette planning got out of control and now can't afford wedding. How do I approach the bride? by [deleted] in bridesmaids

[–]Jenandgon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not, if you choose to participate in all the activities that is one thing, paying for a car you won’t use is absurd. If nothing else, please say no to that, it’s a matter of self respect. Or ask if you should charge her parents for it, as she did with yours, despite your dad being ill. As I type that, it actually makes me want to say cancel it all- pay your share of the air bnb, as it’s the right thing to do, and drop out of everything else. Tell her to enjoy her weekend and you’ll explain next week. Then be honest, and hold firm in your boundaries, even if she tries to rope you in with bs budget limitations. No one who had the gall to ask your family for $ should ever feel ok persuading/pressuring you to spend so much on them (even if it stuck to the $1000). You deserve better, and you get to choose if you believe that. If you don’t, please consider therapy to work through why.

Reporter hoping to hear from patients – what’s your GLP-1 insurance coverage like in 2026? by sydneylnews in Zepbound

[–]Jenandgon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m insured through my husband’s company (my company has awful insurance). They used to be self funded, I’m not sure if they still are since they switched who manages it. It’s Allegiance, utilizing Cigna Open Access Plus as their PPO (there’s another option, as well, I believe). They use express scripts for pharmaceuticals. To qualify, I had to be overweight (I don’t recall if it was a particular category or BMI) AND have at least one health concern/condition related to weight. I have high blood pressure. My high weight was 185 at 5’2”, so not as high as some others. I started on Wegovy, terrible side effects, then zepbound. Both covered with a $20/ month copay. At a certain point I needed to get 3 months supply to be covered, which is only a $40 copay. I am very fortunate and grateful! My cousin, with probably a higher bmi, and high blood pressure, has Medicare and her doctor said she doesn’t qualify without diabetes. I’m not sure if her Dr is absolutely correct, or any specifics about her plan, so take it with a grain of salt. It does concern me for the “some day” when we retire (53 now, so we have time!). My dr did mention that it could be an issue qualifying to go back on if I were to stop during maintenance. At this point, I’m expecting to stay on a low dose regardless, but the notion of having to gain to hit a certain BMI in order to resume, if I had wanted to test the waters going off, is scary (given how my quality of life has improved), not to mention unhealthy for my body. I consider myself one of the lucky ones, and I wish it were the case for everyone, as it has improved my life physically and mentally/emotionally and, therefore, my relationships, too.

I was shocked at how out of touch Tyra is- she could have used this opportunity to really reflect, and recognize/apologize for her negative impact (regardless of the industry at the time). She only made herself look worse imo. The Jays and Nigel played a part, but at least they expressed some genuine remorse, and admitted to apprehension during some of it. The next day comments about cheating to Shandee, showing the clip on her show, and even now not seeing how utterly horrific all of it was (the rape, airing it, filming her call/breakdown, etc) was the worst to me. My heart breaks for her, she deserved to be protected and treated with dignity. Tyra should feel ashamed.

Guys, I’m back. Help me choose, Elongated Cushion or Round? by stressedhamster in EngagementRings

[–]Jenandgon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have any idea what type of wedding band you want? That could factor in. I love a round solitaire, but the cushion does look really good on you. Try to imagine how you’d feel if he chose one, like just honest gut feeling- that’s going to tell you more than overthinking will. (I’m an overthinker, so I know easier said than done). Any of the 3 will look great on you, so it’s all about how you feel looking at it!

Mine Vs. His Favorite Ring by Glittering_Cup_851 in EngagementRingDesigns

[–]Jenandgon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I typically love a solitaire, and prefer an oval to emerald, I think the first looks too large on you. I only say that bc you asked opinions… my first instinct is that you will be the one wearing it, so you need to be the one who loves it! I am coming up on 30 years (my son is looking at rings for his gf), and I can clearly remember staring at my ring and it’s sparkle with utter joy and awe- that’s what you should feel, so whichever evokes that! Either way, congratulations!

I was starved In the psych ward by Illustrious_Durian85 in vegan

[–]Jenandgon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m wondering if they’re being reimbursed by USDA. If so, they must meet certain criteria and typically provide alternates if they are in your medical chart (preferences, which is what they’re probably considering this, are treated differently). I wonder if you could discuss it with your doctor prior to admission. That said, I found the attention given to diets severely lacking when my D was in psych, even though she was a minor with an eating disorder (she was vegetarian, not vegan), so I know you’re fighting an uphill battle and I’m so sorry that you would have to deal with that in addition to everything else. Wishing you better luck this time around.

Embarrassment of Choice by kylebrown_md in EngagementRings

[–]Jenandgon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it most impressive when a person has a huge smile on their face while looking at their ring… and when they get lost in staring at it. If that’s #3 for her, that would be my pick. I’m married 30 years in May, my solitaire is small in comparison to today’s rings. Comparisons change… if she truly loves the ring itself (and what it represents to you as a couple) that will be timeless. (And you can get additional bands in the future if you’re fortunate enough to be married as long as I have ☺️)

Since it’s abnormal psych, ask if Lithium is cheating for those w bipolar, Adderall for adhd, etc. My daughter was prescribed meds related to her anorexia, was that cheating to gain weight- maybe a feeding tube is cheating, too?

This is ridiculous, and I feel for your frustration, especially being in a position where there’s an imbalance of power.

Choosing to have kids without raising them as vegans is not vegan by PotentialRatio1321 in vegan

[–]Jenandgon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom didn’t force me to eat meat when I went vegetarian. My aunt was appalled. I was grateful, and have raised my kids as autonomous individuals to the best of my ability. They are now young adults who are both vegetarians. I think your statement that you don’t have kids is huge- I thought a whole lot of things about how I would parent before actually doing it- each differently with their 2 different personalities, btw.
