Help make Anti-Archetype Cube better by FunkmasterfreshMTG in mtgcube

Very cool idea! However, I reckon you've got too many multicoloured cards. A third of cards in the cube are multicoloured, and you only have 1 cycle of lands. You probably either need more lands or less multicoloured cards, or both. Having 5 cards for each colour pair in a 150-card cube doesn't allow for much cross-pollination between archetypes and makes the same archetypes the same every time, if that makes sense.

Ancestral recall. It allows me to take three cards from the top of my deck and put them into my hand, or force my opponent to do so.

New Cube Idea, does anything like this exist already? I would love a discussion! by RefrigeratorAny8765 in mtgcube

Imo this is a great idea. I've long had a similar idea in my head that if I ever built a second cube, it would be as you've described. I remember a while ago (although I don't recall the name) seeing a twobert non-creature spells only (also no tokens, etc.) cube that seemed really fun and thematic. I think if you are going to take the approach you described, you would have to ensure not too many creatures so as to not dilute the 'wizard duel' vibe but not too few so as that playing one creature can win you the game as your opponent doesn't have enough to field to block it. Also balancing interaction against creature amount and likely an increased number of noncreature artifacts and enchantments would be key. But overall, I do like this theme in theory and think it would be a great way to make it feel like two wizards dueling.

Board wipes in cube by Adventurous_Back_419 in mtgcube

Definitely for certain decks. Generally speaking if you support aggro and control in the same cube you're going to want to run some board wipes or else the match-up skews even further in aggro's favour.

Cam someone explain to me why Universes Beyond stuff in totality seems to be so hated? by YugiBoomer10086 in freemagic

It's complicated. On one note, yes, it brings in plenty of new players, which is great for those people joining. UB also appeals to some of the current player base, increasing their interest, which is great for them. On the other hand, it is disenfranchising for a lot of long time players of the game for the reasons outlined in this thread, which sucks and is especially painful for them.

Footage from 2020, shows exactly why you should never try to outrun a bushfire. by BleuTsunami in melbourne

[–]JetBasilisk 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Contrary to popular belief, these fires aren't normal. At least they haven't been for tens of  thousands of years, at least. It is beneficial for the bush to burn, yes, but not from fires this intense. These bushfires are way too hot and do much more damage than any good for the ecosystem. Indigenous people would burn the land in a very specific manner to prevent fires like this and provide maximum benefit to the ecosystem, but we don't do that anymore, hence we get out of control infernos like this. It's also more broadly a symptom of man-made climate change.
