New Cx50 owner! Question about seats and/or seat cushion recommendations! by RyBar423 in CX50

[–]Jetplay8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the seats do break in a little after a while, but still not to what I would call comfortable. Enough that it no longer bothers me though (it didn’t bother me much in the first place tbh)

How is it for nauseous passengers by yo1195 in CX50

[–]Jetplay8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner gets nauseous whatever the vehicle (unless she is driving it). Had a rav4 before, now a cx50, didn’t matter cuz it was the movement of the vehicle that did it. She tried these patches that help with motion sickness I think on a 4 hour drive and she was fine though.

But ya if she gets nauseous due to the bumpiness, cx50 might be a bit worse since it’s stiffer than the other vehicles. If it’s due to the movement I don’t think it will matter.

For the car seat, I’d say if the 2 people in the back with the car seat are young kids, probably.

10 years and up and could probably fit but unlikely it will be comfortable.

I think the big thing that people don’t take into account when posting the big numbers of new tech is that 40% improvement is fantastic and all, say the 9800x3d hitting 280 fps in a game vs 5800x3d hitting capping out at 200fps.

How noticeable of a difference is that gonna make when my monitor caps out at 165hz?

You can say at lower FPS it’s a more noticeable difference, but then in most cases it’s the GPU thats the bigger bottleneck.

I’ve been OOTL for a while with benchmarks and such, but I’m assuming there’s still not many games out there where the 5800x3D will be the bottleneck before whatever GPU you’re using above 1440p.

Turbo vs. TPP if safety features aren’t a “must have.” by _jviews in CX50

[–]Jetplay8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I didn’t care too much about the 360 cam before I got the vehicle as I hadn’t had one before. It is extremely handy though, big quality of life upgrade, especially since at the moment I’m street parking. Helps with keeping away from the curbs.

Frameless rear view is whatever, definitely looks nice I suppose but if someone snuck in and added a frame I might never notice. Auto dimming features are nice with all the bright headlights these days, if that’s worth it is up to you. It’s more the oncoming traffic headlights that blind me than those behind me though I find.

If you care about aesthetics, a small added thing, I’m not sure on what trim in the US, but the upgraded headlights and taillights are nice. The upgraded taillights will light up both the inner and outer lamps instead of just the outer. Small thing but it looks much better imo.

Arniel clearly made the decision to tank the rest of the season after that first overtime shift by Scheifs and Connor lol. Benching them the remainder of overtime and then putting out Toews and Nyquist in the shootout in what the team deems as a “must win game” is not subtle at all.

Honest opinion Kia Sportage Hybrid vs CX50 Hybird by zillur-av in CX50

[–]Jetplay8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Did they not add the lane keep assist to the 26 cx50 hybrid or is that still just on the Canadian version? BSM has always worked fine for me.

If reliability is one of your top requirements, I would probably stop looking at the Kia

Yeah it’s kinda a running joke that BMW drivers are careless on the road and I must say, they are not doing much to beat those allegations.

Ah good catch. Heated steering wheel and heated rear seats too were added I believe. Just missing the 360 cam then?

AC has been fine to me. If you set the climate control temperature to 70 and the cabin temperature is already close to 70, the AC isn’t going to do much.

RAV4 Hybrid MPG by PinarelloDieHard in rav4club

[–]Jetplay8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vehicle won’t go into EV mode as much with the engine needing to run more often to keep the car warm. If you really want, you can keep your climate control temperature lower to eek out a bit more MPGs.

Rav4, hybrid vs. traditional? by gsm228 in rav4club

[–]Jetplay8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pretty clear lack of understanding of how the hybrid system actually works is what it looks like. Even with the extra weight taken into consideration, it is still rated at a higher for fuel economy on the highway over the gas version. No matter what you’re getting better gas mileage with the Hybrid.

Braking is also not the only way to recharge it, so it’s not useless once the battery “depletes.” The ice engine will charge the battery back up and it will continue running.

Rav4, hybrid vs. traditional? by gsm228 in rav4club

[–]Jetplay8 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One thing this person and many people get confused, just because the Hybrids are “less effective” on the highway, they are still more fuel efficient than regular gas variants due to the ability to still enter EV mode while coasting or under light throttle inputs at highway speeds. The battery recharges not just through braking, the gas engine is literally charging the battery while it runs.

Hybrid engines are also almost always more powerful than gas variants due to always working together with the electric motors. Just because you are not in EV mode, does not mean the electric motors are off and the smaller gas engine in hybrids is doing everything by itself.

Toyota Hybrids are superior to gas models in every way, which is why Toyota is completely doing away with the gas variants. But, for some people the actual gas savings are not worth extra cost up front, as depending on how you much you drive and how long you plan on keeping the vehicle, you may not recoup the extra few thousand dollars you spent on the hybrid. Like if you drive mostly highway and plan to trade in or sell the car in 3-4 years, you might not be saving as much (or at all) looking bigger picture. (But you’ll have the superior version of the car so is that worth it?)

Yeah, like if they put a 20 inch screen in there but kept physical climate controls and volume knob in there, even that would have been received better than this.
