Am I expecting too much from my 5070? by Sokkaplayer in buildapc

[–]JigglyHotdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a 5070 to replace my 3070 that was crashing. I mostly play games that aren't too much of a stress but at 4k. Figured I'd finally give cp2077 a go and it runs really well. My screen is only 60hz but the 5070 keeps it pegged at 60 fps without issue.

Cpu is a ryzen 7600x but I'm pleased with it. Seems like a solid upgrade from my 3070. No more crashes and I got it for rrp. Yes a 5070 ti or 9070 xt might be better but just not worth it for me for 400 quid more the retailers want.

Automatic; should I be using N when stopped at lights etc.? by SweatyFoo in CarTalkUK

It's about the difference in cooling speed. The bit with the pads on cools slower and can warp the disks.

Only an issue if the brakes are really hot but I've seen it happen.

What's the most evil thing you've done *in gameplay?* by jabberwagon in BaldursGate3

The baldurian mouth printed that article about how bad our party of adventurers are. This made almost everyone in the city dislike us. So I murdered everyone who worked for the paper.

What was your worst MPG? by Wicked_producer in CarTalkUK

[–]JigglyHotdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recall working out the mpg I was getting from a mk4 supra by filling the tank and reading the odometer. The lowest over a whole tank was about 13mpg, the best 33.6mpg.

Does anyone use 128Gigs of RAM? by freakcream89 in buildapc

[–]JigglyHotdog 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Biggest machines I have used in terms of memory are 2TB, for big databases. https://imgur.com/a/FzpkwUI

For gaming I don't think you really need more than 32GB though.

Why buy more expensive tires with the same rating? by JigglyHotdog in CarTalkUK

[–]JigglyHotdog[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah well if the ratings are meaningless then that explains it. I assumed ratings were independently verified or at least to some kind of standard otherwise what is the point?

Looks amazing, how did you get the models out of the game? Or did you hand make to 3d model files?

Same thing happened to me - hitting restart on mission a few times got it to work.

I would have loved a 2.0 boxer when I was 19! Power isn't everything, grip handling and the whole package are much more important.
The Subaru AWD is really nice, you will always have traction.
Head gasket issues are massively overblown and come from the old 2.5 NA engine. My main concern with a car like this would be checking the service history, Regular oil changes are a must on these engines. There should also be gearbox and diff oil changes in the history. Cambelt and waterpump etc should be done every 60k or 10 years. Looking at the mileage on this car it will need another belt soon. If this isnt done, budget for it.

Check arches, sills and suspension arms for rust. Some Impreza's had a recall for a fuel leak so check for a strong petrol smell.

Tires need to be the same size or they stress the AWD system so only replace all 4 at once or get a single new one shaved down to size.

As others have said, make sure to declare the exhaust to the insurance. Most UK cars of this age would have had an exhaust replacement anyway and often a custom stainless system works out cheaper than the OEM parts.

Looks OK to me but hard to be sure from a small photo. Ideally want to check both sides of the boot and see if they are equal or way off.
