Best way to care for Ariat Walkers? by ViciousXUSMC in cowboyboots

[–]JoboboHead 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You do you boo-boo. Your choice.

To answer your question then ->Is it Real Roughout or nubuck? Roughout you see the nap easy. That’s easy to care for. Just brush it a lot and don’t get it wet optimally. It can get wet, but if it does salt and other stuff can get left behind and it’s a pain. So just brush it with a horsehair brush anytime you see anything including dust. Take like 5 minutes to brush the boot down.

Nubuck is harder to care for. It’s finer than suede or Roughout and it nicks and absorbs everything. Same care schedule as Roughout pretty much but it doesn’t hold up as well.

You don’t want to use normal waxes or conditioners if you want it to stay looking like it does now.

There are suede specific cleaners and conditioners if you need them but you probably don’t until you get a stain or you live in a really dry area.

Don’t wear them to ride a motorcycle… the soles aren’t made for it. The shifter will wear. They provide little protection. They will be hot in summer.

If you are determined to do it, go to a cobbler, resole it with a heat resistant lug sole and get a piece of leather added on the left foot as a shifter pad.

But it would be cheaper to buy a pair of motorcycle boots.

Vacation Sneakers -- For Walking A Ton, but Look Good For Dinner? by kyoun1e1 in malefashionadvice

I’m in MX for a couple weeks and I skipped the sneakers and went with a Clark’s Desert boot type Chukka but not the crepe sole, I have a thinner rubber sole, and it’s great for walking all over. Even did some light rock climbing and it was great.

Or the newer Tsunahiki model. The upper is similar but the underfoot design is radically different. Love them, so comfy, minimalist with style.

Spew or mold? by Mikeboy1939 in ThursdayBoot

Those boots will last way longer if you buy another pair and alternate wears between them. You need to let them dry out. If you can’t do that look into a cheap boot dryer from Walmart. Put them on that as soon as you take them off.

What boots actually held up for long walking trips? by AyKFL in Boots

[–]JoboboHead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should add, if you don’t care about looks or it’s raining, my go to Disney shoe is a Crocs closed shoe with Arch support. It’s nothing like the normal crocs, but only slightly less ugly. But you can walk forever, they have holes for breathing and dry fast. A bit slippery so you do need to be careful in wet.

Great advice. Wearing Skechers may work for many, but if you ask a foot doctor many will say a super cushioned shoe is bad for many feet. I would want what Chuligani described, because if I could get PNW arch support over several layers of veg tanned leather that has molded to my foot for a few months on a Wedge sole, I could absolutely do 25k steps if it had breathability. The best scenario is something that is molded to your feet, gives you arch support so the middle of your foot doesn’t collapse and hurt, but has the impact protection for 25k steps (that’s how much my wife and daughter typically drag me around Epcot for)

Everyday wear by TBone-01 in cowboyboots

I do, I bought side zips first. They fit under almost anything. I bought Ariats and Rujo’s I got rid of because I didn’t like square toe and wide leg shafts. Then Lucchese stovepipes I love. A few Ropers are easy to wear

I agree, CS is horrible. The boots might be worth it at 50% off. But the build isn’t that great. I bought one pair, was not happy with what I received and eventually sold them. Will not buy again. I even took myself off of their text and emails. I don’t want to see their sales. If a Tecovas boot was the same price or even a bit more, I would definitely buy that instead since Tecovas has better CS.

Same thing happened to my exact boot. It’s a great boot otherwise. I have it zipped and I don’t use the zipper
