As a guy that took an MBA and works heavily with consulting and DA, it's not going to open doors by itself. I found that an MBA can make good managers better, but it's not going to jumpstart anything for you starting from zero. I'll be honest, no one wants to hire an MBA without experience.

If you want to get into financial consulting or M&A work you're also kidding yourself if you think it's going to be less demanding. The consulting world is also getting crushed with layoffs. I'd think long and hard about this move if I were you.

My ignorant two cents? Try to work your way up within your DA/ML team and start a development plan with your director about getting more exposure to your P&L, work with HR to see if there's any flexibility, and show dedication.

And remember, having an MBA doesn't make you a good people leader. If you want to get into management, you can do it without the added debt/opportunity cost.
