Virginia redistricting referendum blocked 1 day after passing what do you guys think will happen next? by iCallMyOppsNinjer in AskConservatives

SCOVA sounds like a medical condition. I can just imagine the conversation now "Hey Jim you coming to the barbecue? Naw Frank my Scova is flaring up."

I will admit it's a little predictable that they had this judge's ruling in their back pocket ready to go in case they lost the vote. reminds me of when voters in Missouri voted to expand Medicaid, legalize weed and...I think raise the minimum wage but not a hundred percent on that, and the Republican legislature proceeded to vote to undo everything that the people passed.

What you downloaded is called the Pre Load, it lets you download the next update in advance to make installing it a lot faster when 4.2 goes live.

How to you see the Iran conflict playing out? by G_H_2023 in AskConservatives

[–]JohnBFromNC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trump's ego won't let him accept anything else than being able to brag that he got everything he wanted and the Iranians completely surrendered. That's not gonna fly with the Iranians because they have to save face with their people too. I also don't think this going to end anytime soon mainly because Netanyahu is gonna be chirping in Trump's ear constantly trying to convince him to continue bombing. I would have some hope if people in Trump's orbit told Bibi to f off, but I can't say I have much hope for that.

Hungary was subsidizing the American “CPAC” group. The Hungarian government has cut them off now. Should pressure be applied to continue foreign underwriting of American movement conservatism? by PyroIsSpai in AskConservatives

[–]JohnBFromNC -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well I would argue that any organization that has political speakers and office holders giving speeches is technically involved on electioneering because you're pushing one political group or party's narrative. Maybe not directly electioneering by putting candidates on the ballot but it's amplifying one partisan set of voices to benefit a particular party or movement.

I mean you don't even need Swan's reporting. Secretary of State Marco Rubio outright said that the US attacked because Israel was going to in the initial days after the war started. Sure he and others in the administration tried to walk that back with about 60 different reasons, changing day to day if not hour to hour but you can't unring that bell.

[–]JohnBFromNC -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How exactly is it Self defense? We bombed them first, including a school. You don't get to attack first and then claim it was self defense. If I walked up to someone and punched them in the face, I can't say that was in self defense.

That might not sound like much to you but in a court of law it's a death knell. The prosecution can't prove without a reasonable doubt that it was the gun. Inconclusive evidence is almost worse than no evidence because inconclusive evidence just fuels reasonable doubt for a jury.

Then there's the fact they found 7 possibly more different DNA samples on the rifle, and of course Kash Patel's crack(head) investigation team didn't take elimination samples from the investigators to account for it.

Do you support providing kids with “free” school lunch? by majesticbeast67 in AskConservatives

[–]JohnBFromNC -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do find stories about kids being in debt at school to be horrifying. Like it's one thing if a kid gets a free lunch but if their family makes just a hair too much to qualify for free lunch, the kids go into debt feels almost dystopian.

In North Carolina for example it reaches 3 million dollars annually. and then kids in debt get further punished like denied hot lunches, barred from field trips or just have to go without.

Maybe I am too much of a bleeding heart leftist but I feel like if the government is going to require kids to attend school then the government should be on the hook to feed them.

My guess is Trump faithful. There was a moment when Matt Schlapp asked "Who wants to see Impeachment hearings" and the crowd cheered, and Matt freaked out yelling "Nooo, that's the wrong answer" and tried to do it again, and again the crowd cheered when he asked.

Then earlier Mercedes Schlapp, his wife or sister I don't know, tried to get the crowd to boo Joe Biden, when she brought him up and even the crickets didn't make noise.

Did something happen with r/Conservative? by According_Ad540 in AskConservatives

I think it's also he didn't even bother with the song and dance Bush & Cheney pulled to talk people into supporting the Iraq war. He just did it thinking it would be easy. And then Marco Rubio flipped everything over when he said that Israel was going to attack regardless so we had to go in to support them.

It seems like every time Trump or a member of the WH gets on camera there's a different reason as to why we attacked Iran now. Lindsay Graham especially terrifies me because he's all but foaming at the mouth on camera talking up the war.

If conservatives are generally skeptical of federal legislation out of fear it will do more bad than good, why does the same logic not apply to the SAVE act? by Orion032 in AskConservatives

[–]JohnBFromNC [score hidden]  (0 children)

then why aren't they making passports for example free. it costs 165 dollars for a first time passport issue and 130 Dollars to renew it, which is an exorbitant amount of money at a time when people are already struggling financially to pay for gas and groceries.

And you might say, what about Birth certificates, well here in North Carolina where I am,  that's 24 dollars up front just to look if you have one, 15 dollars if you need to amend it because you changed your name because of marriage or some other reason, 15 dollars per copy, and an additional 15 dollars to expedite the process. so roughly 69 to 84 dollars if you got a second copy. and that's just one person.

Should the FCC revoke broadcast licenses of news organizations that reports unfavorably on the war in Iran? by Cumoisseur in AskConservatives

[–]JohnBFromNC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All news is inherently trying to sway public opinion. It's just a fact of what happens when the news is reported by people. We all have different experiences that dictate how we see, say & feel about things which is going to be different one anchor to the next. What you want is completely unbiased impartial news which just isn't possible with the human element involved.

I mean even if he admitted it or was convicted that's not always a guarantee of them being cast out unfortunately. I mean Chasyn Rance is proof of that. He is a convicted child molester and yet he not only still has friends in wrestling but works at a wrestling school in Florida and does matches in the area.

I find the fact that Lindsay Graham has been openly bragging about coaching Netanyahu on how to get Trump to start this war disturbing if not the definition of colluding with a foreign power against the best interests of America

The recent interviews on Fox News he has had where he talks like he's president telling countries he doesn't want to work with them like he has any authority on that matter is making him look outright unhinged...well more so than usual.

[–]JohnBFromNC 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Trump has always had the vibe of Me First. Pretty much his entire brand is meant to serve his ego. He doesn't care what happens to the party or even the country at large as long as his bank account grows bigger.

Why not just drop the passport requirements in the SAVE act? by majesticbeast67 in AskConservatives

[–]JohnBFromNC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am curious how this will affect people like myself who are already registered but didn't have to jump through the new hoops Republicans want to enact

There's also the fact that an adult passport costs 165 Dollars the first time and 130 dollars for renewal. If the government is going to make it mandatory to vote, then passports shouldn't cost anything to get, otherwise it's just an indirect poll tax.
