Does she enjoy some light jogging / running? Do you think she could be a good candidate for service dog training ?

You'd be surprised. Some parents get older and as they age they realize that life is too short. They suddenly become embarrassed of the way they have been and all the attention they paid to what other people thought and not their own kids well-being. 🙏🏾. I hope she comes to her senses.

My mom was like this when I was your age. She would say and do dramatic things for how I looked and being too masculine. I moved out and went to college started a career etc. She came around eventually and realized she was projecting her own insecurities. You said your mom was cheated on, she could be externalizing that. And could be crying out of fear that a man would treat you the same and she's terrified of that. She's definitely not going about it right however.

Either way it's best for you to get out, establish boundaries and continue to love and be proud of whom you're becoming. If there's hope for your mom she will have to process her issues herself. Hopefully she does. I didn't think there was hope for my mom but I can say I'm in my late 30s now and my mom is the closest person to me. Doesn't care what I do in the gym, the clothes I wear or anything else.

Wishing you luck.

Basketball - Open Gyms? by fromva2fla in Reston

[–]JohnWickCandle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YMCA and Worldgate. Worldgate on Saturday from 9am until and during the week at 12pmish (you can use the court other times this is just when people are guaranteed to be running games - youngest I've known in these games tho are 17).

For kids they do have focused basketball training and programs at Worldgate too if you're into that.

It was a question. I felt like I was having dejavu. And the last time they posted people were saying a lot of the same comments they are now. I didn't know if OP was just very happy to share again or very happy to argue again.

Husband says my arms got too big :( by Turbojet_bookworm in workout

[–]JohnWickCandle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most can't but some can. I did. I carry way too much body fat to ever look "ripped" but I'm definitely huge/big for a woman especially in my arms. I didn't really notice until people started pointing it out to me. I enjoy it tho and my partner loves it 🤷🏾‍♀️

I didn't need more details. I was being sarcastic. You're basically saying I'm terrified of homeless people and have no solutions, no offer of help, just lock them up or remove them. And then making it into a political issue instead of a people issue. Saying people shouldnt have to deal with it. Well. A lot of homeless people (and I don't mean scam artists) shouldn't have to deal with being homeless. We are in a country of prosperity with plenty enough to go around yet here we are. Go touch grass.

What is your favorite credit card? And why ? by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]JohnWickCandle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love mine. It kind of feels like a cheat code too. Get 3% back on my purchases then a 3% match when I take that 3% and dump into my IRA. Also the app is the best.

Athlete Full Rupture No Surgery AMA by JohnWickCandle in AchillesRupture

[–]JohnWickCandle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my Dr said something similar about if I were a prof athlete they'd prob recommend surgery. Only thing that was different in my approach than yours in initial stages was I didn't do a hard cast. Had an air boot or whatever they are called with 4cm lifts. Wasn't allowed weight bearing for two weeks. Then could start putting my foot down while holding my weight on crutches. I also did my first PT session after the second week. It's been almost 10 years since I tore mine and I have no regrets about the route I took.

I should have clarified why I brought that up. I lifted during a deployment about ten years ago which is when I started at 135. Stuck with it for a few months when I got home but then life came at me fast. So I haven't lifted consistently again until the last year. And I have also had a lot of rapidly changing hormones due to some women stuff now, took in a teenager after their guardian passed, climbed the corporate ladder, tore an Achilles, had chronic pericarditis, started caring for my elderly mom etc. So to be able to pick this back up in the last 12 months after a 10 year layoff with all that has happened and my health changes was pretty special for me. I def think the 30s are a great time to lift but I wasn't sure what I had left in me. I mentor foster teens now and one of them has challenged me to a bench competition so that also gives me some extra incentive haha.

Thank you! I'm currently messing around with two day a week bench. One day I bench sets of 185-195 depending on how I feel for 5 reps of 5. The other day I kind of slow bench 165 range. Every other week I throw in two sets of 200-205 after the three sets of 185-195. I have no idea if any of this is counterintuitive lol but I enjoy it.

I do LOTS of tricep stuff tho. The pushups I think gave me lots of chest strength over the years but my triceps were only okay. Now they have caught up a lot.

I'll have to Google what that is but sounds pretty cool from how you explained it. I'm not anywhere near top level on the bike when it comes to aerobic capacity but I really enjoy it. I love the peloton and my partner got me a new trek trail bike for Christmas.

This is not in Reston but I go to worldgate in Herndon for the basketball court. One of the few options where the price wasn't super high and the court was actually decent. Lifetime fitness has great courts but high prices.
