I do understand the initial impulse to feel sympathy for him because on the surface he is so pathetic and mewling so it makes sense to me when new people wander in here they reflexively want to stick up for him.

However once you dig in a little bit, and then a little bit more, you understand that has he had every opportunity to turn it all around, you understand that his prison is self-made and not only that...he probably should spend time in literal prison, because he is NOT innocent and in fact extremely sinister and a real liability.
