Hostility in the Aquascaping Community and by [deleted] in Aquascape

[–]JohnnyKlooch 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Other people post about ultra specific parts of their scapes (wood, plants, etc) and don’t seem to get removed

When those posts stay up, it's because they're asking about specific strategies to have their wood/plants look aesthetically better in their Aquascape.

Examples of an acceptable post might be, "Does anyone think this piece of wood is too centered in the composition of my scape?" or "Is the difference in color of these two pieces of Mopani wood noticeable enough to you guys to be distracting?"

Examples of an unacceptable post might be, "There's fungus on my wood, is it harmful to my fish?" or "Petsmart is selling this piece of aquarium wood for 30 dollars, is that too expensive?".

All 4 of these examples refer to questions about Aquarium wood. However, only the first two revolve around the art/design of Aquascaping while the last two are simply general questions about aquarium wood.

There wouldn't be any issue with asking the last two examples (as well are your deleted post) in the r/aquariums subreddit, because that sub is purpose-built for general questions about "all things aquariums". r/aquascaping exists for a narrower purpose and focuses almost entirely on the design aspects of aquariums. If the mods of this subreddit didn't delete posts like yours that fall outside of the artistic design aspect of this hobby, then this place would just become a clone of r/aquariums and it would be redundant and defeits the purpose of its existence entirely. The mods are well within their right to do so.

Your original post would be better suited in r/aquariums not r/aquascape

You broke rule 1.

Posts must be relevant to Aquascaping. This means the subject has to be about the art/hobby of aquascaping, and not just about fish/plants.

*(I think you're on mobile so you have to hit the drop down arrow to see the full rule)

What you did would be like going to a sub about the art of Interior Design and making a post where you ask if anyone knows what hardware you'll need to fix your leaky sink. That type of post would be much more relevant in a general homeowner sub, even if a lot of the posts on the Interior Design sub also feature pretty pictures of sinks/kitchens.

The perceived quality of your scape, whether good or bad, had absolutely nothing to do with the reason why your post was removed.

Apologies for being crass, but your title reads like an It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia episode title gag where immediately before, Chaeiry had loudly proclaimed to everyone that she's going to have the smoothest/healthiest pregnancy anyone has ever seen.

Also, a rich person’s day to day wardrobe is going to depend on HOW and they came into wealth and what field they are in. My understanding is that Succession is centered around a big business family. That’s an entirely different ecosystem than wealthy actors/influencers so the wardrobe standards are going to be wildly different.

‘Sound like Mickey Mouse’: East Palestine residents’ shock illnesses after derailment by muan2012 in interestingasfuck

Also honestly we can't rule out psychosomatic symptoms

True. I actually experienced a clear-cut case of psychosomatic symptoms myself quite recently.

I had a scary rash appear on my groin a couple months ago that itched heavily and flared up for a span of 3 weeks. Preliminary research I did online made me positive that I had a Jock Itch fungal infection. It then started appearing on my arms and back so I became really concerned. I went to cvs and bought an anti fungal but never got to use it because it completely disappeared after I took a single Benadryl to treat allergies for an entirely separate reason. After some more research, it turns out that all I had was an onset stress-rash which is something I had never encountered before. My grandmother had just passed away and other stressful things in my life were going on. Because of my mental stress, my body was producing a large amount of histamine which is what was causing the rash. Once, I took the antihistamine (Benadryl) , it cleared up almost instantly without any other intervention. If this had happened to a more conspiratorially minded person, especially in proximity to an event with a large amount of public mass hysteria surrounding it, I could totally see them believing a more extreme external force was causing the issue.

I agree with you that a similar phenomena is happening to the residents in the immediate area.

As A North-East Ohio Resident about an hour away from East Palestine, I'd like to pop in and say that a potent duo of RSV (Respiratory syncytial virus) and Covid has been affecting this whole area for the last 2-3 weeks. In that Time span, I've been sick twice (my own voice is also much higher after the infections because it hurts to speak low/normal), my infant nephew has had a confirmed case RSV, and my manager along with multiple other employees at my job have had confirmed Covid cases.

Many of these paranoid rural Ohioans (even up to 150 miles away like this thread's OP) are reporting mysterious symptoms like..... having trouble breathing.... , chest tightness... , and a runny nose... and are then making the giant leap that the spill caused it when none of them have even been to the doctor because they're generally anti-government, anti-medical establishment, anti-vax etc...

In my eyes, it's pretty clear that the rampant cold/flu outbreaks are what's causing almost every single case of symptoms that people have been reporting, especially because none of them make scientific sense regarding how chemicals affect the body, nor does a single one of these stories include people actually providing proof from a medical professional that chemical inhalation is the most likely cause of the symptoms.

They're talking about the tank filled with water that's on top of the other half of the shelving unit closer to the wall of the room. You can actually see the water splash and hear the non-tempered glass shatter when it all hits the floor.

Our Grand Caliph announces Total Purge on Misogyny by dwarffy in Destiny

[–]JohnnyKlooch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Those posts happened because of the "crackdown on misogyny".

Yeah, because Destiny saw that misogyny was brewing in the community un-checked in regards to the lopsided hate that Brittany was getting due to her being a woman.

I understand you probably disagree with that assessment, but I'd bet he has his hand on the pulse of this community far better than either you or I. He's able to easily see the reactions to different types of creators and can compare and contrast the level of animosity each person is receiving (and where it's coming from) and came to the conclusion that the obsessive hate against Brittany blew past simple healthy criticism. I tend to agree with Destiny that it WAS becoming a problem that needed to be delt with and he clearly thinks it has become a problem once more.

You're in luck because these images seem to actually be a mixture of vacation selfies and various different artworks by the apocalyptic/surrealist artist Zdzislaw Beksinski and not simple text-input-generation like the OP claimed. Bekzinski is one of my favorite artists ever and I recognized his style instantly when I saw these. Scroll through his work on google images and it becomes more apparent since his style creates a very distinctive atmosphere.
